Green hair algae

Hey there, sort of new to the hobby. Have a biocube 32, been up and running for about 3 weeks. I started noticing some green hair algae the part couple days both on the sand and rocks. Is this a normal part of the cycle or should I take action?

3 weeks. Ur in cycle. Let it go. I'm 7 or 8 months in. I'm dealing with it again. Badly.

8 months! Get a sea hare the true lawnmower of the sea.

Haven't tested phosphates yet but nitrates are 0

Are you sure is gha and not Diatoms? 3 weeks is too short to have GHA.

Not 8 months straight. But it came back. Hard. Then Dino's. So I'm fighting Dino's then hair algae. I guess I tell myself part of maturing and growing pains. Lol

Any pics. My 120 tank is 10.5 months old.
Around 8 months gha started showing up. It grows fast with 11 fish and feeding 2 cubes 3-4 times a day.
In goes sea hare and boom 2 weeks and you can hardly find gha. When tufts of it shows up its gone in the morning.
Just took this from the couch lol.

My tank is 2 weeks old but I moved all my existing rock from my neglected cube29 to the new tank, I am going thru the Diatoms phase plus i have GHA on the rocks that were brought over (even if i tried to scrap it off)

Diatoms: brownish covering rock and sand:

GHA: green and long strings:

What are you doing for nutrient export? Refugium? Algae will occur if you aren't controlling them. Do you have a clean up crew?

Dinos imo. Dont see any gha though.

Those look like Diatoms, there is nothing you can do until the consume the silica and they will be gone. 2 week old tank is to early for Dinos and GHA unless the tank was seeded with them

I currently have a pair of snails and a pair of crabs.
