So your saying "insufficient " was the wrong word? Obviously if its growing the color does not mean not enough light. You think they thought that?

to me.
if i dropped my red planet for a green swirled look, or at the bottom i would think lighting is sufficient.

it isnt like your red planet will die if it is green.

Yeah, I guess I see what you mean. Insufficient was the wrong word to use. That stinks. Well I guess I'll find out now that I've turned my lights up a little bit.

This is mine under T5 at 390par

Here is mine under high light. (Dont know the exact par but it's cooking for sure!)

Though I've noticed if I put a frag in lower light it just dulls and looses color though not necessarily green.

what lights?

i notice when my RP is encrusing it has a green edge to it and some on the surface.

would be curious to see the height of that rp

Kessil 160we 100% blue and blackbox 50% whites and 100% blue. It's probably about 12in under the water surface.

Do all RP have green? I bought 2 different RP from local reefers. One has green (turning more turquoise and red under lot Kessil light) and the other sold as Tyree OG RP with little to no green?

True rp has green. It seems like a lot of corals are getting labeled rp when they aren't

My par is 519par 6" below surface where the frag is in my 150gal and the mother that is really red with some green is 330par where she is midway in my 120 gal

how long has that frag been there?

Is the frag more green or red?

I think that there is a lot of variables that play in coral color..... flow, nutrients (water parameters in general) and light being an important one of course. My red planet sits under 250 Radiums and two strips of Reef Brite blue LED's. Here is my Red Planet in my system. I'd love to see it juicy red all over but this is what it does under my conditions in my reef.

Wouldn't the "type" of lighting play a role in its color as well?
I think type of light source plays a pretty big role. The most colorful Red Planet I've ever seen was in a neglected reef tank with all T-5's. Super red no green in site!!!

Good question and in all honesty I couldn't tell you...Lol Those are numbers I never really chase unless I sence something is off. Colors on my Red Planet have been pretty consistent for over a year.
