Does anyone know how I can stop the spread of my green hairy mushrooms? They spread so quickly they are taking over my tank and killing other coral (by covering them). I've tried scraping them off rocks near my montipora, but they continue to grow back from the smallest specs of leftover tissue. I removed small rocks and put them in my sump, but I have some huge rocks completely covered in shag carpet [emoji31]! Don't get me wrong, I think these mushrooms are beautiful but it's just too much. Are there any coral that will fight back and sting them?
Also I had zoanthids in my tank. As the mushrooms became more and more abundant, the zoas melted away. Is it possible the mushrooms are putting chemicals in my water column that are affecting the Zoanthids? The Zoanthids were on the other side of the tank. They never came in contact directly with the mushrooms. Any attempt to add new Zoas has failed [emoji17].

Pictures? The best way to "kill them would be the same way you kill an aptasia,
Aptasia-X
White Vinegar
Kalk Past
Superglue
If you can get them off I may want a few if your willing to send em my way[emoji6]

I am at work and currently, and have no recent photos. When I get home I will take one to show. Here are a few before they started growing out of control

Take the rocks and sell them or give them away. Or when they kill a new coral you love. Take the rock out of the tank and throw it in a trash can of bleach and say die..DIE DIE :)

Lol. The problem with that is one of those rocks takes up half the tank. The one on the right with the cave like hole in it. I would hate to lose it. My tangs love it. I'll try the glue approach I guess. Does anyone know if they will release toxins as they die? Some are now over 6 inches in diameter. That's a large dead animal.
The colony of purple/maroon ones on the left has never moved and I've had them just as long. Maybe the green ones love my LED lights...

At this point it looks like remove the rocks or let them do their thing and have a coral fight. Toughest sting survives. Your clowns seem like they love it

I agree that is a lot of biomass to be killing in a tank. I would try and cut off the majority of the mushroom and let the feet regrow into new mushrooms and then kill those babies with the kalk paste or whatever your weapon of choice is. I would probably cut like half of them out and run carbon to filter out toxins. Then in a few days come back and take care of the babies. I would do a water change between events when possible.

The clowns do love it. That's why I'm looking for a management solution rather than complete removal. If you know of some corals that will fight back I'd love to know of them. I could strategically placed them in the middle of the tank to create a frontline and keep The mushrooms off the left side. Thanks

I have some green star polyp like this right now. Problem I have had when you kill it will take out other corals. Lost 3 corals from this last kill back.
The next treatment is removing the whole piece and Bleach time.:)

If you can cut any off (Frag them) I will pay for shipping if you just want to give them away. I would LOVE to get m hands on some/a lot of these

Looks like one massive carpet anemone all together. I would follow the advice others gave and try cutting them off. Make sure none of the foot remains or new mushrooms will arise.
