Green slime?

No, it should live. I'm certain there are more. They usually can be seen at night. Oh and they reproduce quickly.

Trust me there are more. They hide deep in the nooks and crannies of the live rock.

Ok and sorry to turn this topic into a cycling topic, when cycling I do siphon out all the die off correct?

You can leave it. The more you get the higher the bacteria count will get. Also, the Bristle Worm will survive, those things are bullet proof. Beneficial, until you start to overfeed the tank, and have a bazillion of them. So don't overfeed. Also, yes, there are many more of them, wait unitl your lights go out then go looking, you'll see.

Ok so an update to the rock, I boiled it and left it outside, I scrubbed it and everything, is it ok to put in my tank now?

I'm still fairly new but I'm going to go ahead and say no not always, I've read reasons why people would boil rock and like on my instance to get rid of algae, unwanted critters, and to make the live rock "dead" base rock. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

That's great thanks, just wanted to know coz I wana use a little as a base rock for my live rock.

An how did you mix up your water, people keep telling me to add all RO water then salt straight into tank but will salt dissolve properly an if so how long will it take an how much do I use? I was gonna make it up in batches an add it in bucketful at a time?

Yes, for a first time set up, you can add water then salt directly to the tank, and it will all dissolve. How much you use would all depend on what salt your going to use. They all have directions on the box/bag telling you approx how much to mix. Then again you will be using a Refractometer to test the SG after you let it set for a few hours. Better to be under guessing than over guessing.

Yeah thanks ill do that and just add salt over the course of a couple of days and keep testing.

No need to do it over a few days time frame. The bag directions are pretty dead on spot. With a new tank you can keep adding it all in the same day until you get it. Just make sure its all dissolved before you take a reading.

During water changes you add mixed saltwater and for top offs it's ro/di correct?
