Hi all, I’m new to SPS and added a few frags to my tank and the Green Slimer looks like it’s struggling. Wanted to know if you could maybe help me out with it. It is 2 weeks old and I moved it up to the top of the tank after a week. Plenty of flow with two WAV units.

I have a 24” cube with 4 T5’s and a Kessil A360 tuna blue.

Nitrate/Phosphate 0
Alkalinity 8.1
Calcium 450
Mag 1450

I don’t see what’s wrong with it... a little brown so could be lighting...

That looks like a very young or "immature" tank. What type of rock is that? If you didn't seed the tank with live rock, I'd steer clear of corals (especially acros) until you have a nice coating of coraline on your rock and significant biodiversity in your water. Corals don't like things to be sterile, you need a mature tank to help corals thrive.

You could also have elevated phosphate... ideal range is .10-.15

How new is the tank? have you been testing your parameters to make sure they are stable between water changes?

Nitrate and phosphate at zero is not good. Corals need at least a little of these nutrients. I keep my nitrates around 4 ppm and phosphate around 0.05 ppm.

Established since October and very stable. I use RODI. There is big patches of coraline on the rock just not coating it all yet. If it was receiving too much lighting would that be a possibility?

The Bird nest I have looks to be doing good but it is a lot lower in the tank.

polyp extension looks fine. I'd let it settle in.

How are off the water are the lights? intensity of the Kessil? My green slimmer sits anywhere between 300-350 par. I have a 90 cube with G4 pro and 4 t5s. The LED is only at 60% intensity. If you have no nutrients in the tank and high light it will not be good the corals.

I cant really tell what kind of Slimer that one is but I would mount it vertically. Once they take off, they barely encrust which will cause it to fall from where it is.

Do you dose anything? I have an ulns but dose acropower. Puts amino acids and other nutrients corals love back into the water...

My green slimer hated when I had 0 nitrates and phosphates and even started to STN. Yours looks much healthier than mine did, but it could still be related to the lack of nutrients.

How do you have 0 nitrates and 0 phosphates? Carbon dosing?

I have T5s on 9-9 and this is my schedule for my Kessil (no PAR meter so any advice is appreciated :) )
