I am leaning towards chronological. I'll also give up my spot if necessary.

Very noble, but I feel you should participate. You started this and are now organizing the event.
You deserve to have a place. :)

I agree. You should be able to participate also.

That's a lot of frags! Really curious to hear what Adam has to say about that many frags at once. I think I'll drop out. I live 40 miles from Adam and really want to pickup my next Battlebox. It wouldn't be fair to those that have their frag shipped, imo.

Totally understand and you didn't come across wrong at all!! And I get that. I remember one I tried to get into that never coalesced which was two acros. One a solid grower and one a little less so. Best of both worlds.

I wasn’t putting down your opinion. Lol

Sorry if it came off that way. It seems that quite a few people here are interested in a reliable grower rather than something which has a sensitive disposition is all.

Glad I wasn’t offensive!
Maybe if this contest goes over well, later on we could try one with two acros like the contest you described.

If my tank ever has colonies that are established and grown out enough, I’d be willing to donate / sell the frags myself, but that’s a long time coming. Just think it’s a fun idea(:

even if it's a large colony I think 35+ frags cut off it would likely kill the colony. Have you considered how you're going to handle ties i.e. 20 that have grown at the same rate? Lighting should be a consideration as well.

Perhaps an idea to consider is to divide the competition into sub-categories of beginner, intermediate and expert and maybe lighting categories too? SPS newbies can go with easier SPS and experts can go with more difficult acros to keep. Buyins would differ understandably but some don't seem to have an issue with cost. In the long run it might eleviate clusterbleeps at the end and less ravaging of a colony. Just a thought or two.

Adam, where are you brotha

There has to be one controllable variable we all work from - the frag. Will need to break up a whole colony but we’ll than have thirty colonies and should be able to say who has the most growth and why.

75 sounds great to me

I'm here man Just figured id let you guys sort out all the details:) seems like things are coming together well slo far.

Also need to know if there’s enough of the vivid frags to go around!(:

I tried to reread the post but was not sure what needs to be reported? I was thinking this is a great opportunity to capture of ton of information from a small sample group.

System Specs:
Dosing:
Lights: including time on/off ramp and setting or bulbs
Feeding: type schedule
Salt used:
Water changes: how much any additives to water on change RoDi/sea water etc.
Flow: what powerheads, what cycle etc.
I know this may seem excessive but most of that info would only need be captured on day one.
Barebottom, sand, DSB
Thoughts??

I agree that this would be good information to capture, but my thinking would be to provide it at the end instead of the beginning. This is a contest after all. What if you have the secret for how to grow corals really quickly. Why would you want to share that information with everyone at the start.... you would be giving away you biggest advantage to winning the contest.
