Like he said, the ones you want to grow fast and spent the most money for grow the slowest.

I've had grapefruit sized colonies of gobstoppers and Sunny Ds grow as fast as Xenia in high nutrient tanks. I had single head of pink zippers sit with a single head for six months in the same tank with no growth, then in a matter of weeks it sprouted 6 heads.

Some palys like Purple Deaths or Nuclear greens will eat food dropped on the them like LPS, and this encourages growth. I have a colony of a super rare morph of giant nuclear greens that will eat cubes of brine shrimp at a time and will grow at astonishing rates when fed. They cease growing if not fed.

Smaller zoanthids such as those pictured here tend to grow at a more gradual but constant pace and prefer more stable conditions vs the feast or famine wild west of larger palythoa. Healthy zoanthids with long skirts and good colors should be your priority and not trying to induce growth. Like all palythoa / zoanthids a bit higher nutrient levels (nitrate) tends to encourage growth.
