Gurgling Overflow and Low Water Line

So I went with a maggie muffler as my drain option rather than a durso, but now I can't stop it from gurgling...anyone know how to get this thing to siphon?

I used to have Maggie's but didn't had that problem.
Are the completely submersed ?
If they are you need to drop water level so that the air holes on top of the cap are out of the water.

had the same issue, ended up turning the flow down on the return pump.

No the cap is out of the water. I'll try to take a video so you guys can see/hear what it's doing.

You don't want it to siphon. I believe a Maggie Muffler is just a different form of Durso and they do not operate with a siphon.

What you want is nice laminar flow along the outside edge of the pipe and the air in the middle. If it ever draws a siphon it will go into "toilet bowl mode" where it rapidly lowers level, breaks the siphon, and the flow slows down again until level gets high enough to cause a siphon again.

You can play with your water and air flows to try and get it to quiet down. One nice thing is that as it "ages" it will tend to quiet down also.

How big is the hole on the cap? also how much of that drain line is under the sumps water line?

I could see that being annoying!

Have you tried changing your air flow at all? My first instinct would be that you have too much air flow for your water flow. I would try using your finger to block off part of the air hole and see if that helps.

Hmm...haven't tried anything other than completely covering the hole (I was trying to start a siphon...see I'm a plumbing noob).

Not sure on the size hole. It came standard...maybe 1/4"? (btw, I suck at judging sizes)

The pipe goes a few inches below the waterline in the drain.

Sounds like it is still sucking air. Water level needs to be higher.

To get the water higher in the display. need to use a stronger return pump or open the valve more to the return pump.

I've used Maggie mufflers before and theyve always been fairly quiet . I would ticker with the air vent. Sometimes the hole could be too small or big. need to get it just right.

Maybe you can drill a couple more small holes on vent cap. then cover one or two them with finger and see what the difference in sound it makes. then can always seal one of the holes with silicone once you get it right
