Gurgling Overflow and Low Water Line

I presume it's still noisy with the new pump?

Can you tell us what specific pump you're using now?

Can you measure the rise from the sump water level to the top of the return?

And to recap, what it the diameter of your drain AND return plumbing?

Actually, once I swapped the maggie muffler for the durso the drain is silent. So at least that problem is solved.

The pump is underrated, so I'm thinking I need a larger pump (maybe one of the ones that were too strong for the muffler). The current pump is a Rio 1100. I've got an Atman 2000 and a Quiet One 4000, so I'm thinking I'll try those and see if it helps the water level at all.

The drain is a 1" and the return is 3/4"

I'll need to measure the rise from sump to return, but I suspect it's about 3 and a half feet.

Higher flow won't raise your water level significantly. it will just slow down your durso and make it noisy. dursos are recommended to be 1.25" to begin with. if water level is now your main concern, silicone a piece of acrylic on the inside of your overflow to shorten the height of the overflow teeth. I still have no idea why they are so long. I cut mine at 1" - 1.25".

Yeah. The teeth are exactly 2 1/2" long. The water line is currently at 2 1/4" below the rim. I figure I want to raise it about another 3/4" at least. I do think I should probably still plan to move to a higher rated pump just bc this one is really too small for this tank, but I'll need to also choose the bottom of the wier by putting something behind the teeth. I'm just thinking I'm missing something because this tank is well-made, so it seems like the problem must be my not understanding how it's meant to be plumbed...

It's not a plumbing issue. maybe they cut the teeth too long by mistake. the teeth on their ghost overflow are 1.25", I believe.
