Gyre or MP40?

I have a 110G high and i'm thinking about getting either a maxspect 250 Gyre to run horizontal and have 2 mp40 on the left side and right side of the back. Or should i just use 4 mp40s?
2 going horizontal and 2 on the back wall.

i have 2 mp40s on a 5 foot long 133 gallon tank and that's plenty. i have an overpowered return pump though and split return to help flow. 4 pumps seems like a bit much?

Go for the mp40s, had a 110G as well and was not impressed with the gyre.

You should be fine with 2 mp40s tbh

For what it's worth, I ran the gyre and sold it. It required constant cleaning to function properly. It was also loud. I've also run mp40s but don't like the giant wart on the outside of the tank. They also have trouble reaching four feet, IME. Plus EVERYONE that isn't a reefer grabs the dry side and says "what's this?", moving it out of alignment.

If I can make a third suggestion, the Tunze 6055 is small, amiable, controllable and reaches four feet easy. You can hook up a few to an apex and make them do anything you want or leave them on their own controllers. The icecap battery backup can run one for a long time if need be.

I was worried about dead spots in the back due to my current rockwork.

I was running a mp40 on my reefer 250. I wasn't happy with just that so I bought the ice cap which is a cheaper gyre bit works great I have no promble and I have both running now my tank happy as a clam. Run both the gyre a must I fell in love with it

Just one on each side. I have one higher than the other and do the lagoon mode so flow changes slightly through the day. Get the wireless kind if you do MP40 so they communicate with each other

Ye. I plan to hook it up with my Neptune Apex.

Agree, you'd be amazed the coverage they have specially with them synced together in different modes.

I really like my gyres. They move the water through out the tank and leaves virtually no dead spots if your rock work is relatively open.

I have a Gyre 150 vertically on the back of my 135G to keep flow behind my rockwork with an MP40 on one end of the tank and a Jebao rw8 on the other....Getting another MP40 soon to replace the rw8......I have no flow problems in my tank! I have had no problems with noise, performance or extra maintenance on the Gyre and have only totally disassembled it once in a year. IMO you are probably good either way.

Another option is the wav since you are running an apex. I have 3 on a 150 running max 50%, pushes water on a 4 foot tank with no problem.

The gyre controller is a nightmare compared to the Mp40. I had a gyre 230 and took it off and got mp40s on the 350, the controller of the gyre is just isn't user friendly

The controller a little bit more difficult to use, only because its a lot more advanced you can set it to move water forward and backwards throughout the day so your corals not getting blasted from one side. It was designed by reefers.. Just look it up bulk reef supply does a nice detail review on it watch it...
