H202 dosing

Losing my mind with this stuff, I've done light out for 3 days and no luck. Should I keep the lights out when dosing the h2o2
This is the time to be strong and never give up. These guys will destroy a person's will to move forward.
H2O2 will not work against dinoflagellates
As a matter of fact there, to my knowledge, is NO over the counter cure for them.
Decisions will have to be made. Accepting any losses will have to be accepted.
If for a fact you have dinoflagellates invading your tank concider drastic action :)

What I have in my tank is brown and starts in the sand and starts to get stringy but has no bubbles

So is there no way to treat the corals in my tank?

I saw a post where a bunch of people had success with it getting rid of the dinos
There are many different options you can use to help fight against them. There is no one proven method. From h202, metronidazole, bleach or shelf items like dino-x not one will work for everyone. I tried metronidazole and it had a impact but did not eliminate them, I tried bleach and saw no results. Others are using bleach with great sucess.

Currently I am doing manual removal with live bacteria, copods, live phytoplankton and purigen. I am having much better success with this method then the others, but this is me personally.

Couple questions what do you add to your tank? Example what kinds of fish foods? Coral food? Any type of amino products? I noticed when I stopped dosing red sea reef energy this helped me get a hold of control of the dinos in a very big way.

Your going to have to try a few methods before you find one that works for you. But I know anyone fighting these will all agree no matter what method you choose manual removal has to be a huge part of it. I believe it's about having the right balance in your system, something is out of wack.

I spot feed with brine shrimp and use some reef roids that's about it, haven't fed for a while and when I do removal should I remove it through a filter sock and then put the same water back in the aquarium because I've heard water changes with new water is even worse for it

See I did manual removal every day, anytime I saw affected spot I removed it and had to add NEW water daily. I did not see any effects that new water fuels them. But again everyone seems to have different experiences, there are many kinds of dinos. I use Reef Crystals.

The first picture I showed was my tank on monthly water changes. I had 3 total fish in my system then ich showed. I pulled them out and treated, while treating I bought 2 more that went in qt. After my 78 days I introduced 2 fish every 3 days. A week after the last went in bam dinos. So it shows i had dinos in my system before and never knew it.

Check out dino thread by twilliard for more info on dinos.

So is your tanks free now

@Twoods84 What kind of system do you have?
Red Sea max 130d and have had it set up for years and have never had a problem and then bam this crap pops up, and I just ordered a 40 nuvo and now I'm afraid to try and transfer anything until I get a grip on this stuff

Yes, transferring could be bad. However, i believe can do it with the right regimen. It would require a quarantine setup. You most definitely will want new rock and sand.

Oh yeah definitely using all new sand all new water and I'm not using any of my live rock I just want to transfer all of my corals

If it is dinoflagellates there is a huge possibility of transferring cells.
That's how my DT got them from a coral transfer

Ive not dealt with them personally but one of the big things with lights out is complete darkness. even light in the room can be enough to make it ineffective. lights out and cover the tank prevent all light. at the same time id start vodka carbon dosing . this meathod has some controversy in regards to negative effects of having extreme phosphate and nitrate reduction but in conjunction with pitch black periods you should see improvement. here is a link covering carbon dosing with vodka http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/
