Wow once a month?! That's awesome!

Having done lots of long distance traveling, your work schedule sounds just like described--part glamorous and part crazy. I have no doubt it is a demanding job bringing these beauties from the oceans afar to the states.

Picking nice corals is glamorous and fun, right?

These export facilities are basically outdoors. No air conditioning in super high humidity and tropical heat. Mix that with many hours bending over trying to pick just the best zoanthids or mushroom from many thousands under natural sunlight. I do bring some of those blue LED flashlights, but that's a pain holding that and picking and bending and feeling effects of jet lag, etc. OK, it's not all bad, but I can't make it seem like too much fun now can I

Some facilities are fancy, others are pretty basic, most are very large.

Very nice, what filter are you using for the pics?

No filter, white balance set for each tank. Photos shot in Indonesia, lighting is predominantly blue LED with some full spectrum, cheap Chinese fixtures. At our facility here we use Ocean Revive LED set at 50-60% blue, no white. All LPS and softies do great, excellent color and growth-multiple generations, exception would be leathers that like more light and flow. Most of the corals come from deeper water and do best under blue just like they get in the wild at their depth, the exceptions would be Acropora and some other SPS and leathers. Also, Zoanthids are usually found in very shallow tide pool areas with lots of flow and intense light--basically the shore line, but can do well under lower light levels in the aquarium.
