I don't understand why everybody does not do it this way.

maybe some people don't like the look of wires from the ceiling.

How can that be? If you don't like wires from the ceiling then how can you like conduit then wires from top?! What I am trying to say is with at I wire is unavoidable.

The wire is unavoidable but in some cases such as high ceilings or my case where I rent and don't want to put holes in the ceiling hanging arms are necessary. I had a welder friend of mine make mine out of aluminum.

Doesn't have to be hung from conduit with long wires.

Maybe, but I don't get how you can not enjoy thin two wires vs. bars over the top and side of a tank? Either way, to each their own.

I have both those obstacles, high ceilings and I'm renting! Can patch up 2 dime sized holes easy!

Yes. Originally it was made for a Radion, but decided to use it for the T5 fixture.
