I keep a lot of sps and I'm pretty obsessive about my parameters. so I know I'll have to find something else.

hahah. My salifert tells me if I'm being really bad (25-50+) or really good (10-). That's about as much detail as I need. Then again, my corals tell me more than that test kit. extended and vibrant=don't worry

I used to have a Hanna nitrate photometer but I lost it a few years ago. I might get another.

I no longer like the salifert no3. the new color card is so hard to read!
I've spent 2 days looking into a new no3 kit. Salifert.... ugh.. Almost went with the NYOS kit. Watched a video and i'm kinda like, meh. The yellow color chart wouldn't work in my house. I have so much incandescent "colored" lighting, everything would add yellow. ELOS had mixed reviews. Ended up buying another salifert kit lol

I use both the Alk and Calcium and want a low range phosphate. Both Alk and Ca are awesome, especially seeing as I am color blind. Nothing wrong with the Calcium it's just an extra few steps than the others.

Lol. they are easy to use but so hard to read the results. I have no idea why they would change the card, unless the old one wasn't accurate.

Does anyone test twice or just rely on one test? I use hanna for ca alk phosphate low range salifert for no3 but also test with red Sea pro ca alk and mg.

I think I remember that there are two measurements of Phosphurus important in the Aquarium. Organic (Phosphorus) and Inorganic (Phosphate) these can feed algae growth and limit calcification in corals. Its a good idea to measure both as it gives a clearer picture of your total Phosphurus levels. As excessive algae growth can mask Phosphate levels.

I remember reading an article on Advanced Aquarist some time ago.

I am of course open to correction, as I am an Engineer, not a chemist.
