i just purchased the Hanna nitrite ulr checker. I followed the company’s instructions the final reading was 5. Is this the reading I’m looking for or do I have to multiply by 3.29. And what numbers at the end of the test would be in the range for an sps tank

Thanks for your help

Ulr phosphorus? If that's the one take the end result, which is 5 in your case
5x3.066÷1000=0.01533 ppm

Wow, I had no idea that Hanna even made a nitrite checker. I don't think I've even measured that since I cycled my tank.

I’m just trying to figure out what rage of readings are good for the tank.

I still test nitrates about 2 to 3 time a year.

Purchased the same from Hanna, their representative stated 0-100 for a reef tank reading. Mine read 27 and my LPS and SPS are doing fine. Hanna doesn’t have a conversion into nitrate.

I’m dealing with the same thing but someone correct me I maybe wrong I think the Hanna ULR reads parts pre billion and you multiply by 3.29 which would give part pre million (so 5 times 3.29 should be 16.45) again not for sure but i also would like to know and what is the range that you would like to have

Or since 5 is your ending number on the checker then you multiply by 3.29 which is 16.45 parts pre billion then .16 would be parts pre million. I’m have same problem trying to figure out so I hope someone can answer and tell us a good range is good even though Randy’s post showed us were nitrites weren’t harmful to marine fish I read it 3 times

That’s correct according to the instructions. Mine is reading 28 before multiplying by 3.29. According to the Hanna representative a reef should be between 0-100. In my case I had to dose to get nitrates. Since using the nitrite ulr, I haven’t dosed. The corals are telling the story, both LPS and SPS have great colors and PE. I only have one fish, the rest is coral. The checker is more of a ball park number as the tritation kits were hard to tell. Noted this checker doesn’t have a chart to convert to nitrate, I’m letting the coral tell me if they’re happy.
