Hard time

Actually no. you can use everything in your current display to set up the new tank... you just have to let it sit without fish for the full 76 days start to finish. So if you leave your current tank fallow for 30 days, then set up the new tank with all the stuff from the old tank you'd still have to let that tank cycle and what not, but no matter what you still have 46 more days of a fallow period to run through. Luckily, your cycle -no matter how short- will take up some of that time :) This is a great time to upgrade!
Crazy as it may sound my family as whole is mourning. Me the kids and the fiance come home to the Maroon clownfish dead in the bottom of the QT. Coral beauty is still alive but i had completely forgot abot the 2 yellow damsels that are still in the DP seemingly unaffected. Eating like pigs and both fat as can be. I have to get them to the QT as well. Bad fish day for us. My 6 year old is sobbing. [HASHTAG]#sucksrightnow[/HASHTAG] If i set up my 75 in 30 days let's say ,with all my old stuff, Is there a special cleansing method i can use to clean the powerheads, heater, overflow box, sump, pumps.all of the things associated with the removeable surfaces of the aquarium to rid them of the bacteria?

You can clean them in vinegar or bleach and let them dry completely but this wont solve the problem of the rocks, sand and water still harboring parasites. You can kill everything in the display - your entire bio filter, rock, sand everything- and disinfect every surface, but it will take longer to get it started back up again in the 75 than the simple fallow period will take.

Ok i see what you mean. My Coral beauty seems to have lost it's appetite. I tried Mysis with garlic, loaded pods, pellets and he's not trying to eat. Can i expect him to pass as well?

Aw I'm so sorry for your loss :( doesn't sound crazy at all, I would be devastated! Fingers crossed your CB and damsels make it and sending big hugs to your kiddies

Thank you fishyfingers. I appreciate it. Tough day for the family
Are u checking ammonia levels in the qt tank? I remember reading u had s ten gallon qt and if ur trying all that food for ur coral beauty to eat I would expect an ammonia spike that could hurt ur remaining fish. I don't remember reading if u had a badge or not just trying to help u out brother and limit the losses. My condolence again

Have you done the formalin or acryflavin bath yet and transferred them to the clean QT? If treatment isn't administered quickly then yes, you can expect to lose him. I'm sorry, but you want to move rather quickly to get them treated. What have you done so far for them?

Yes i have a badge and looking at it quite well. I have also been waiting about 20 minutes and if the beauty doesn't touch it or look at it, i siphon it out with the turkey baster to avoid such stuff. I thank you Justin for the condolences and advise

Freshwater dipped both and treated with metronidazole and prazi pro. Metro and prazi right in the QT.

Ok good and that's an awesome idea with the turkey Baster too I'm a put that up in the old brain of mine and save it for a later date. I'm also Sending good vibes ur way u got this.

The metro could help, but I usually only use that as an extra push for the Ruby Reef Rally which contains Acriflavine. If they don't start showing signs of improvement soon then I'd suggest doing the formalin dip and while they are in that, cleaning the QT with bleach and rinsing it really well. Set it back up and put the fish back in after their dip. Brook is a surface parasite and the formalin should rid the fish of the brook and the clean QT will keep them from being reinfected when returned.

How long can they stay in the dip for?

I don't have any acriflavine or Formilin on hand but i do have Malachite Green. Will that help even as a dip?

I believe it's an hour. You'll want to heavily aerate the dip while they are in it. follow the directions on the bottle for a dip.

No sir. Not in this case. sorry hun

Is acriflavine or Formilin something i can find at a Petco or Petsmart or pet supermarket?
