Hardiest Acropora In The Hobby

My Cali Tort has been though that place and back twice. Once through my 80% tank crash and then a tank transfer and not to mention my trials of learning how to keep Acros.

I would have to say that the hardest acropora I have ever owned is the ORA
Scripps Green tipped stag.
It is not the most attractive but has survived, little to no flow in a 15 gallon tank that barely got cleaned, had extremely high phosphates, algea issues, and poor lighting (That is the tank where everything went that got pruned from my main tank, I just didn't take care of it.
Also the mother colony survived a 3 day power outage during a February snow storm, it was 48 degrees in the house on the third day, when the power came back on, the only stony coral in the tank that lived, although it suffered major necrosis..

Bought it a year and a half or so ago, at the FragFarmers' Market in CT. I'd mentioned to one of the vendors (@JerSaint, was that you?) that I might like to try a hardier Acro, as I seemed to be able to keep zoas and LPS alive. IIRC, he couldn't remember what the greenish one in the tank was called, but that it was hardy in his friend's tank and his own. Stuck it in my rock, and it encrusted and turned deep brown, almost black. Survived bryopsis and cyano and moving tanks across the room a few times and 40 - 60ppm of nitrates and bacterial and phytoplankton blooms ... And now, it's doing this. Took this photo about ten seconds after the whites went out for the day, but under the daylights it's pale greenish with a hint of soft pink at the tips.

And you could probably use it to toast marshmallows, and it'd be fine if you got it back in the water quickly enough. A week or so?

Ha, ha. The ends are always clean. That was my favorite view of the tank. I remember when setting it up I had just tiny little nubs and all rock, I couldn't wait to have colonies to look at. Years go by and then I had to figure out how to keep them off the glass;Hilarious

I'd echo what others said, Tri-color valida, and green slimer are both have been very hardy for me, and withstand some serious salinity swing as well as grew when my flow was sub-par

Bonsai or digi. Even with heavy metals they just kept growing as everything else wasted away

I agree with the bonsai, mine from Farmer Ty is doing well. When I get corals from Ty he always ask "which ones do you want" and I always reply with "the ones that are guaranteed not to die". I have an excellent track record with his frags. But the most hardy I have is from someone that I probably paid $10 to $20 for and grows in a PAR level as low as 70, which is amazing.
I took this little stick that I thought wasn't going to make it in my house tank and moved it to my office. The first picture is late 2015, the second is late 2017, and I have fragged it since it took up too much space in my office tank.
If any one has the name please post it?

I, like most in my area, use Birdsnest acros kind of as a tester to make sure you can sustain more difficult ones... Birdsnest has got to be the most bullet proof. I am already having good success in keeping a Bonsai, Green Slimer, an OG Macna 08 Strawberry Shortcake and a weird no name that appears to be some kind of Tort.

Birdsnest is not an acropora.
