Ben, glad to read your post and thoughts. I pretty much never believe the news, and love to hear from people in the thick of it.

I know you would.
You observe, listen, analyze and after all is said and done come up with a game plan, yep that's Marc

A moment out of my day while estimating flood damage :(

I arrive at my almost destination but ran into a small problem.

So I called my client who called me this morning to come out as her insurance company advised her to do so.

Client: Hello......... yes sir are you with tomorrows design?
Me: yes Ma'am and I'm here by the front gate but................. (got interrupted.)
Client: oh great, well if you enter the main gate and take a first left you drive around the lake till you see the club house, across the club house is my house there's a black Lexus is in the drive but I'm afraid you wont see it as I can't either and I'm on the second floor as my first floor has 6' of water.
Me: oh I see ma'am well your main entrance gate got about 4' water, why don't you stay right there and I'll be back in 3 hours as I need to bring a boat, besides with that much water I don't know if I can do a take off for the insurance.
Client: hurry up please. I'm here already 4 days and my cat won't eat the hot dogs anymore.
Me: I'll do my best ma'am.

So I called 911 and gave them the address.

Oh wow!!!! As funny as this seems it's even more sad!

Well, now it looks like Florida's turn is coming... We are prepping now. All stores only have perishables left on the shelves and gas prices are jumping already. And I'm West Central Florida, the far northern Tampa Bay area! We are in a hilly area so I'm not concerned with flooding Unless somehow my roof takes flight and the rain is pouring in that way! But I am concerned very much so with power outage. When hurricane Charley came through it affected my County also with a 6-day power outage even though Charlie did nothing but minor wind damage here. I honestly believe that I'm going to lose all three of my tanks even with my power inverter on my car and the possibility of my husband's semi generator helping us out. And I say possibility because I don't know where he's going to be as he's an over-the-road driver. Good thing one of my sons is staying with me temporarily. By the way he's one of my boys that lives in Texas.

Jackie your not alone in this.
IMO Florida has more Reefers than TX dobthe impact can be horrific.
I hope and we all do that the I storm (don't want to say the full name to something bad) will make a sharp turn back into the Atlantic as was predicted a week ago or so.

Yes I agree, there are sooooo many of us here and know that I am definitely not alone. In that sense I would gladly be. As much as I love my reefs, I have already resolved myself to their demise. I will put forth a great effort to save them at the best of my abilities but family will come 1st.... With any luck maybe a miracle will happen and do just as you say, turn back out to the Atlantic.

In the meantime I have everything needed set up for when the power goes down. I am doing water changes tomorrow and filling ATOs then making 100g of RO ( without the di) for drinking water. If I can come up with water cooler containers then I will be making more. I'm afraid there's going to be many people in the neighborhood without water. So once I'm done with the water here I'm going to put a sign out in front of the house to tell them they can get it here if they need some.

I'm in central FL. Definitely getting a little more nervous about the storm now lol. All stores here have zero water at all. Everyone is panicking
Disconnect your DI from the RODI unit if you have one and make your own water. That's what I'm doing. I am also giving it away to any neighbors that might need it once I'm finished doing my water changes and auto top offs.

I am going through my check list.

Woohoo, Glenn made it home!!! AND he has the semi with the generator on it :D ! It will be running the 180g return every other hour so not to spoil the sump. 2 of the bubblers will also go in the 180 as well. The 45g & 29g will each get a bubbler and a power head on my power inverter attached to my car battery for 15min per hr. I'm ok with losing my phyto/pod/macro breeding 20g. The eye is projected to come right through my county but we are supposed to have less rain than right below us. Of course none of that matters in Florida because we always lose our power and regular thunderstorms! And that is the true big issue....

I CANNOT believe the Gators Dockside which is where my daughter works is making them come to work on Sunday!!! [emoji35] They are in The Villages Brownwood which is in the red zone for rain and she has to cross under I-75 which took her 2 hours for a 20 minute drive to get to work today! Even if she can get there she may not be able to get home to her baby which will be with me. She will have to pass the lake that will more than likely be overflowing the main road. As it is the lake comes right up to the road now. All over football [emoji35] PRIORITIES..... Hopefully they'll change their minds on this either way I'm going to convince her not to go.

Another 29g of RO for anyone else in my neighborhood that may need it later on. I have stopped making it for everybody else so I could have my own too [emoji14] I have decided since I still have some time to do a second water change on the tanks to make that water is clean as possible before it hits. I'm going to blow the rocks out a second time also.

Those soda bottles are actually 3 liter not 2 liter bottles that I have saved for about 13 years with intention of making a craft project with them LOL Funny how life gets away from you but I still managed to keep those bottles haha!

From Houston to Florida God bless y'all! Don't get caught on the roads...that is how most of people died here.
Thank You! [emoji7]

That is exactly why we didn't evacuate ourselves. We're safer in our homes than we are out on the highway sitting there stranded. The intersection of I-75 and 44 Wildwood, that they're showing on the weather channel is the main road out of my area. The main reason it is that bad is because our main Highway 44 and the parkway all meet at that location with I-75. If we were to go the other direction it would be US 19 which is equally as bad.

My wife, 3 kids, hamster, and 2 dogs went up North on Friday to high ground. They went the back way and did not hit traffic. What the news doesn't talk about that much outside of here is looting. So if you hunker down get locked & loaded if you know what i mean. Be safe, it will all be over soon and you will be fighting FEMA.
