HAS AQUAFORST SALT HELPED YOUR SPS's ?

I have talked to one person who said there was nitrates in their salt mix as well as a friend's. But this could be a few things.

Has everyone tested theirs for nutrients? They were getting readings like 4 ppm nitrates.

I like how quick it mixes up but I don't see how a salt could make a visual difference in any corals health. Unless you were using a non reef salt to begin with.

I think the biggest component affecting how the corals respond to this specific salt is the fact that it contains a carbon dosing element. Using the salt helps to lower nitrate and phosphate which results in better coral coloration, specifically in SPS.

Which salt is primarily used around the store, and in the 160?

I have never heard anyone say they had a bad experience with aquaforest salt even doing a google search doesn't pull up anything negative

Pretty sure it has bacteria in the probiotic salt right? Not a carbon source.

We go through about two and a half boxes per week of HW Reefer :)
honesly I never considered that as a salt to switch to. I'm sure cost, availability, and markup all come into play with the reasons why you use it, but after reading on the site it looks like parameters are nice. And obviously you're having good success of course

Keep in mind a high amount of people who have problems are having issues that are self inflicted instead of it actually being the product. The additives are mild and hard to overdose. The system is "simple" but still requires a good knowledge level of bacteria/carbon dosing and metal additives or else it's easy for someone with preexisting tank or coral issues to blame it on the aquaforest. Honestly I am not sure what issues could arrise except for bacteria blooms or die off from nutrients dropping to quick. Either way it's not the product it's the user.

This stuff happens when they advertise it as a easier method for coloring corals. It's still complicated and they offer minimal help with questions. One point statements or sentances as replays don't cut it in my book for technical help. That's my only complaint.

FYI those of us who had problem had tank crush - like all your sps rtn overnight and too disappointed to post anything after using their products.

I think you missed the point of my post.

Been using the products for a year now. Love it. I am recovering from a cash, that was my fault for trying to push the limits. None of the AF products were the issue. I was running bio pellets to slow that released toxins into the water that cause the crash.

The main Issue I see with AF is understanding the the system is based off a probiotic system/ bacteria managment. Also with SPS lighting is another key. I have also found the running ULNS, even though the tank is nice a clean, and maintained, coral like small amounts of PO4's and NO3's to stay health.

Each system is different and each system is going to have different results, and some may have bad experiences and some may have good experiences like I have had:)
