The skimmer will remove the Chloroquine (edited) (won't it?) - meaning perhaps the medication level in your QT tank was not high enough? It sounds like ammonia or velvet/etcSkimmer normally and overflow, tank was a 40 gal all in one deal, after the first loss I put in 2 airstones.
Sounds like - perhaps - there was enough (Chloroquine - edited) in the tank to keep things partially in check (i.e. the fish looked sick but most were ok) - when you put in the carbon etc - you removed the rest of the (chloroquine - edited) . But there is really no way to tell.Ammonia was fine, It was either bad cp or I had to much media and absorbed it.
Things went really bad when I pu in Uv and carbon to pull the prazi out, which is what I thought the problem was.
Lesson learned, bare qt tank cp, qt tank with media will be copper and hanna checker.
Oh yeah I know, just one of those things like, I want to put wrasse in tank, so lets get the wrasses into QTWe’ve all been there. Sorry you took such a hit. It’s heartbreaking for sure.
This R2R group, and specifically @HotRocks @Humblefish @4FordFamily, set me straight on qt back in the fall, gave me some sound advice and direction and I finally got fish to the DT. I too had a cycled tank and went to bare bones and sterilization between shifts of fish. Now I keep a sponge filter in my display sump so I’ll be full of good bacteria for the next batch. You will get there in time just be patient.
I switched to copper power and Hanna because of the measurement problem with cp also. Sorry.40 gal, Some biosporia and sponges, always cycled.
I think ill have to switch to copper and hanna if I want to keep the media, no way to test cp levels.
I hope this is the end of my expensive lesson.
That and Im never qting that many expensive fish at once.
Only one flasher wasn't doing good, the other one was awesome. I'll do copper next time.Flasher wrasses don’t do well in CPFairy wrasses are fine, but I have a feeling that’s why the two flashers were struggling initially.
When you removed the CP, it’s possible if there is velvet... it got it’s foothold on the remaining fish.
Chloroquine treats brookynella. Secondly I didn’t see where you said you were using the skinner for aeriation sorryNah, it looks like brook to me. So the CP would do nothing. My diagnosis was wrong, I was treating for flukes, and then velvet, which will not help Brook. If I had dosed metro I might have been ok.
I only did one round of General Cure and was waiting for another shipment from the states(Canada Banned it), for worms, not brook. Then I thought it was just flukes so I put more prazi in, no metro.
Also the skimmer takes stuff out if you let it skim, I was running it for aeration, ie. no cup
No worries, I didn't expressly say it so I don't blame you.Chloroquine treats brookynella. Secondly I didn’t see where you said you were using the skinner for aeriation sorry
Oh yeah, what the brain knows and what it tricks itself into are two different things thoughSucks to hear about all of those loses. One of the best lessons I have learned over the years is to only QT 2 fish at a time in the same tank unless they are a shoaling fish. The more fish you add in QT the higher the chances of introducing something that you aren’t ready for or can’t cure.

Definitely true. Tough to pass on a fish you’ve been looking for when they pop up.Oh yeah, what the brain knows and what it tricks itself into are two different things though![]()
The struggle is real. Esp when you haven't started the QT cycle.Definitely true. Tough to pass on a fish you’ve been looking for when they pop up.
