Hello all

Nitrates are unfortunately are a 0ppm. System is about 6 months old. I have a 300 micro sock filter and a protein skimmer and I added a carbon reactor about a week ago. I have 2 Clowns, 2 damsels and 2 tangs. Several mixed coral frags 4 shrimp, 5 turbos and a few hermits. Thank you all for the suggestions! I greatly appreciate it!
Some folk add nitrates (if yours really are a zero*) to boost the biological uptake of phosphates. They used to recommend KNO3 but currently I'm not in a state to recommend a thread on here to explain all of this, but someone will chime in?

*Hobby kits and testing for nitrate often provide ambiguous results.

Welcome Ben! Sorry I can't help with your phosphate problem. I've always had higher NO3 and low PO4. I agree with the water change comments though. If you post a detailed thread in the "Reef Chemistry" section, you will likely get more responses on why it's happening and options for correcting it. Great to have you with us.
