Hello Everyone!

Red Sea for titration and a Hanna checker for accuracy. I'm one of those people who cannot trust a single test... API ruined me forever.
Ok- I’ve heard great things about Hanna. I have the salifert kit, but sounds like I will be investing in a Hanna checker. Thanks!

Salifert makes a good accurate test. Equal in every way to the Red Sea alk test. No matter what, stability is key, so it's not about WHAT numbers you have, it's about keeping them stable.
And if they become unstable what has been successful
For you in bringing them back to where they need to be?

Adjusting the dose rate in my 2 part so that things properly equalize over time.

Nothing good happens fast in a reef tank, so if things go out of balance, it takes time to get there, and it takes time to correct.
I guess I should have been more specific... my bad. What are you using to neutralize?

So... I really don't neutralize or add/subtract in my system. I have a three part dosing method, in which I adjust alkalinity and calcium in proportion, magnesium to allow for elevated levels, and add trace elements in low doses with my automatic top off. If alkalinity rises or drops sharply, I have to correct slowly by merely adjusting how much goes in daily. Alk and calcium deplete pretty regularly once you get coralline growing in your tank.

Right now my parameters are actually quite high (for me), and it has me a little concerned, but the one thing I've learned over the years is fighting the urge to pull the reins on my water chemistry, sometimes you have to let it run it's course and level off.

(Edited to add following line)

Overcorrection is much more dangerous than allowing things to run it's course.

i use brs a+b ,kent mag, iodine ,watch ph monitor same time of day and your corals will tell you what they need

i am going to back out conversation we are both giving same advice stateline little quicker on trigger ,enjoy your welcome, see you in builds

I'd actually rather you didn't! There's been two or three threads in which you followed up on something I posted with something that I forgot to mention, or even didn't know to begin with.

Of course, it's true that great minds think alike.

ok ground probe a must ,even 2 ,1 in sump not mentioned too often
