Hello from Keesler AFB, MS

Welcome!!!!
Thank you for your service!
There is a TON of information readily available for you here. Be advised, there are a number of ways to skin the salty cat and you might get just as many recommendations when asked. Find a consensus backed by success and you should be safe. A universal truth regardless of methodology... PATIENCE grasshopper and slow down.
Looking forward to a build thread...? Yes?
P.S. Do you know for sure where your next duty station will be?

Not going to lie patience is definitely a virtue. I plan on doing a build thread for sure just because why not? lol. I should find out Thursday where my Duty station will be. Hoping for the beach for obvious reasons, but can always have a little bit of it wherever I am anyway. I don't plan on starting anything livestock wise until around December probably because of moving and getting situated. When I do I plan on having at least a good base and can always add reactors and stuff later. Does the Kessil seem big enough for the tank size?

Welcome to R2R!! Do you know the dimensions of that tank? I have a few kessil 360we and LOVE them. I mix it with T5 lighting though.

Also for your previous question about the sump - in the past I ran a refugium and that did well. I'm trying carbon dosing now and just filled my sump full of rock where my refugium used to be. I'll see how it works out for me. I have a frag tank I want to plumb into the system that could also serve as a display refugium if I wanted. Can't wait to see your build thread!

Welcome. Let me give you a bit of advise from a retired 25 year Air Force Veteran. Do NOT continue with this hobby or pets while you are on active duty. You will deploy, move and uproot during your time in the service. You could have to abandon your pets at a moments notice with no way to take care of them.

Also if you are going to live in dormitories tanks are not permitted in rooms.

I know because I had to donate off an entire tank and livestock for deployment. Now and only now after I have been retired from the Air Force for 9 years have I decided to commit to a tank again. Sorry to seem negative but I want to be honest with you. Good Luck

@AZMSGT has some valid points to consider. A couple of caveats I might interject with... If you are married then, depending on location and PCS duration, geobachelor accommodations are unlikely. If you are married, make absolutely certain that your wife is 110% on board with the tank and takes as active a role in it as you plan on doing or it will be a lesson in never-ending disappointments. If you PCS overseas, all that investment in your livestock will be for naught. You can ship the setup in your household goods and hope that it is not damaged, though. If you choose to go forward, just remember, you have complicated life a little more in an already complicated lifestyle.
PS- if you get stationed at Anderson AFB, send me a PM.

Welcome to R2R :)

I may be heading that way for NCOA before long. If I can get a seat.

My wife handled my 125g well while I was overseas this past winter. Then they want rewards for doing it ;Woot

I was able to keep a 24g JBJ Nano in my room, (Good old Minot AFB). But depending on your AFSC and tempo, im sure you will be able to maintain the tank. I just had bad timing on my part, Wife is also active duty. I had to deploy for 8 months then half way through mine, she deployed. So my 75 had to be taken down.
