Welcome to R2R and the salty world. I agree with what Tharbin suggested. Looks like cyano. Take water sample to lfs for testing. I recommend Hannah for testing alkalinity and phosphate. Red Sea, or Salifert for nitrate, calcium, magnesium,ph. Refractometer for salinity. Nice tank worth persevering with.

Hey everyone, thanks for the warm welcome. I thought I was Dino possibly but not 100% sure. I will swing out tomorrow and get what I can in test kits. Our local fish store uses API tests so it's not worth testing there. Once I get the levels I will definitely post them and start from there. Regarding the aiptasia, we are going the non chemical removal for them.

Good choice. I have always kept a matted file fish in the system, the one I have now is not really doing the job. I add two peppermint shrimp and the aiptasia is slowly going away.

If you can find Aquaforest test kits, they are pretty much dead on and at a good price.

I use the Hanna Alk, Ca, No3 and Po4 ultra low and also great results with the Hanna Checker after change the way to test.
