Least thats what our lovely politicians decided a year or so ago when they wanted to split the state up to New Amsterdam(north of Albany), and NY(everything south of Albany).

Haha! Yeah I suppose so. Most people think nyc is all of ny so I just say upstate. But yes you are correct! Not a big fan of our lovely political figures so I wouldn’t mind splitting the state! Stay healthy up there!

Welcome to R2R Zach. Lots of knowledgable and helpful people here who will support and advise you. Most of the things said here are positive so don’t be influenced by the negative people. Yes there are ups and downs but the ups are definitely worth it. Your youngsters can grow with it.

No kidding! I'm literally an hour drive to the border. Tell people I'm from the Adirondack Mountains and people look at me like I have 2 heads. Then get the typical question, "Theres mountains in NY?". Yes there is and the Adirondack park is the largest national park in the country. I think I read somewhere you could fit all the national parks within the adirondacks.

So far I have only purchased a tank and sump at the Petco in Middletown. The only stores locally that I know do Saltwater is Petes Aquariums in Fishkill. And back in the day there was a store in mid valley mall in Newburgh that used to sell saltwater fish. I think they may exist in a different location... The pet stop. I recently went on their site and there wasnt any indication that they are in the fish business. I've stopped in one store in Rockland (I work there). Nothing too special

Interesting! I'll give you another piece of NYS park trivia. Bear mountain gets more annual visitors than Yellowstone

I’m originally from Glens Falls (Lake George). Always smile when people South of Albany say they are from upstate NY. If you don’t have a cousin playing Banjo on your front steps....you ain’t Upstate yet

Welcome to the hobby Zack. I have a 6 and a 3 year old. They love watching the reef and learning as I learn. Hope to be able to frag off some of my corals some day for their reefs. Keep you parameters stable, ask a lot of questions, and have fun!

No banjos here lol, I’m never going to live it down that I said I live in upstate lol. I figured if I said NY everyone would assume it was the city! Haha! And I love lake George! I go every year. They put on a great fireworks show for 4th of July and my wife likes all the little shops. It’s always a good time.
