Hello - new to the forum

Hi all.. I am getting back into the hobby after a 12 year hiatus.. I picked up a used 100G tank (clear for life 60x18x20), sump with pumbing + return pump, stand, canopy, sand and liverock (well, probably dead but it's live now) for like 300bucks... I have since invested a bit more for sump goodies (octopus 150int skimmer and aquamax 4" reactor), test kits, RODI systems and fully functioning mixing station, 3x Hydor Koralia 1150 circulation pumps, vipaspectra 165w reef lights... My goal was to do this on a budget but still get decent reliable equipment .. I am just at the end of my cycle and starting to add some livestock... my CuC comes this weekend and I am going to add a couple tangs too... I love how my aquascape came out... Tons of caves and flow areas... I have one Koralia pump sending flow behind the
rock structure and the other two sort of pointed at each other for flow in the front. They are moving the sand bed slowly so need to adjust them a bit. Here are some pics.

See you all around the forum!
NICE TANK! Welcome!

welcome to R2R! what prompted the hiatus?
good tank so far i also go first to my tank to see what is going on!

First off thanks for all of the warm welcome messages. I’m looking forward to being an active member here as I have no one else to talk about reef tanks with and it’s all I want to talk or think about right now. I forgot how addicting this hobby is... but so rewarding too.. and hard at times..

So the reason for the hiatus was I had two sick cats back in 2007 and it was too much caring for them the tank and my alcoholic ex-wife. It was just too much. The cats passed on and got new kittens, the ex was such a handful I just couldn’t have a tank... since then I moved to SoCal got divorced and finally have room in my life for a reef again.. and a perfect spot for the tank... and central AC. So you got a little insight into my life for the past while.. I still have the cats and at least one of them is very interested in the tank. :)

Welcome to R2R,
Your fish tank looks amazing even without live stock in it. Looking forward to seeing more pictures and updates from you.

thanks much!! Yeah I love how the scape came out and the rock, although dead, is really nice Fiji and Tonga ... just has to get through the dead stage to get bacteria settled in on it. All kinds of coraline algae on it too.. I’ll be sure to post lots of pictures with my progress... :)

Welcome to R2R!!! And welcome back to the salty side!!! I’m really digging the ambient lighting you have going on around your tank. And that tank looks great too!
