Help, Blonde Naso won't eat

Well of course I have no idea if she/he eats when I'm away from the tank. As for using Nori, I have tried that, not the red kind, but the regular green, but the problem with that is, all my other fish love it, so I can put some in my tank, but if I watch, it never eats it, if I don't it is gone in just minutes as all my other fish tear it up. So I don't know if the naso gets any or not??I also must agree with you Melypr1985, I am not sure that is the problem, although I don't have a problem trying this, but just not 100% sure that is the problem??

So the best thing to do, may be to put him back in the QT. This way you can monitor how much he is eating (if at all), medicate if you need to, and he's not competing with others for food. Hopefully you can get him eating well without competition before going back into a display with lots of competition.

Go far away and do not move. Just out of sight enough that you do not spook him/her. Fish tend to react to movement, so if you are not moving often they will come back out if you are not close enough to make them feel threatened. See how that works. I still cannot believe my cow still hates me... I feed her 2-4x per day...

Plus 3FordFamily, I'm not sure I can get "Live Blackworms or even Live Brine" not sure of anyplace that sells those around here.
I have a few LFS locally, one of which sells blackworms, one other sells live brine. Call around, it is worth the effort I guarantee it. You will know for future reference as well.

I order mine online and they arrive in 24-48 hours depending on how early they arrive.

I just talked to my LFS & they don't carry either of the two, so I will call around & check, only problem of that is, they are at least an HR away, or should say, 2 hrs away.
I will try & catch it & put it back into a QT tank, but as we all know, catching one in a reef tank isn't the easiest thing to do.
I will also try the hiding & not moving, see if I can see if it eats at all.
Thanks everyone for the info.

Keep us posted. Watch for other symptoms as well, like the ones I asked about before.... just in case.

I'm not totally on board with this being worms yet.

+1 Unless white stringy poop is observed, no way to be sure intestinal worms are even the problem here. And a tang with flukes will usually twitch their head. As @3FordFamily pointed out, nasos are naturally cryptic and shy when first introduced into a new tank and may hesitate to start eating.

Hello all, Happy Thanksgiving. I picked up a Blonde Naso, Medium size, was eating at the fish store, but won't eat nothing here. Have tried almost everything & really don't want to lose this guy.
Other Fish in my 220 Sps tank:
1-Coral Beauty
1-Copperband Butterfly
2-Pajama Cardinals
2-Black & White Ocellaris
1-Green Mandarin
1-Scopas Tang
1-Leopard Wrasse
1-Yellow Wrasse
I know or have read that you should have either 1-3 of the same type fish, if this will cure it, I will pick up a Yellow tang or whatever my LFS has instock. But please, someone tell me what food to try. Have tried a lot of different foods including the Mysis that the store was feeding him, no luck. Any help.

Thanks & Happy Reefing
Happy Thanksgiving,
1) Try to remove the fish from your DT (hard task)
2) Once in your QT try using prazipro (your lfs should carry those) and cupramine if he shows any signs of ich or MV
3) Try feeding Nori, my purple tang will not eat brine, mysis shrimp but goes crazy when I give him nori or flake dry food
4) Try keeping it in your QT for at least 2-4 weeks this time around to make sure he is healthy and eating before putting it back to the DT.
Not sure if this will help but sincerely hope it does. Good luck

Update. First of all, would really like to say a BIG Thank you for everyones input.
I was able to get the Metro, did a 100% water change in the QT tank & put it in, let it mix around for a while.
Got very lucky & caught him with very little trouble, in other words, didn't have to take my tank apart. LOL
Stuck him in the QT tank, found a little hair algae in my 220 up near the overflow, put it in the QT tank & BAM, he started eating it.
I am so happy to see this, yes I'm going to leave him in there for a couple weeks, get him/her fattened back up, then try the big tank again.
Once again, thank you all very much!!
Will let you all know when I put him/her back into the big tank & how he/she is doing!!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!

Awesome!! Happy thanksgiving and please do keep us posted! :D

Well he/she has been in the QT tank for about a week, have got it eating Grape Caulerpa, Larry's Seaweed. But that is it, tired Romain, Peas, all kinds of frozen food. But it just refuses to eat my regular food, which is Larry's.
So my next question is: have read that maybe putting a smaller fish in there with it, might get it to start eating seeing the other one eat??
Suggestions??

thanks

I've seen that work before. I have a kole tang that wouldn't eat until it was around other fish that were eating.

Other fish eating is often a strong influencer. This is one of many reasons I suggest qt'ing groups of tangs.
