Yes they'll be fine. Oh I meant to mention that they only need to be in the copper for 30 days. After that you can either use carbon to remove the copper, then they can just stay there until your 76 days is over. Keep an eye on ammonia too, it can get high quickly in a QT tank. I use Bio-spira in mine, it'll instacycle a tank so you can add fish without worrying about ammonia or nitrite.

oh okay, and i use biospira too lol.

it's totally okay lol, i thought it was funny. and i'm using api pimafix? i think that's what it's called anyway. i've been using it for about 4 days (including DT) and the lady said only to use it for 5 with my inverts but now that i have QT i'll do the full 7 days like i'm supposed to. if any (god forBID!) signs of ich or velvet happen i'll dose copper but i'll probably wait a day or so before switching to another kind of treatment? unless you guys think i should dose asap after this medicine
I would run this medication plan by the experts. If you are waiting for ich symptoms they may not appear. I'm not familiar with this medication and it could depress the symptoms and you wont see any. You risk moving your fish back into the DT and BOOM you are right back where you started. Some people dont proactively treat but I recommend that only to experienced hobbyists. It is very easy to miss symptoms. You need to spend a lot of time just observing the fish if you dont proactively treat.

Pimafix is herbal remedy that should help with fungus infection that they diagnosed, but still scratching is worrying me because fungal infection dont usually cause fish to scratch. Be careful that both fish you have are considered hardy with thick slime coat, so white spots might not appear until its too late. When I had a velvet wipeout the clown fish survived the first wave but not the second, and my firefish survived it all and no signs at all on both, I would treat with copper to be safe as pimafix won't help in this matter. Be sure when dosing copper to have the appropriate test kit to ensure you are within the therapeutical level.
I would also check for possible flukes by doing 5 min FW dip and look if any drop.

Best of luck.

You can do copper for 30 days, and then two doses of PraziPro 5-7 days apart. That would take care of ich, velvet, and flukes.

The freshwater dip is surprisingly simple to do and besides confirming or denying flukes, it can also provide more immediate relief from ich/velvet.

thanks for all the info guys, the clownfish isn't scratching anymore. the only thing i have to do is get some pvc for my firefish later today when i have a chance to and we'll all be set. i fed them and they are doing well! eating well and getting along fine!! i thought the bigger clownfish would bully the firefish, but turns out she follows him everywhere like a puppy lol. i did a freshwater dip i believe? yesterday and no flukes. i'm going to treat with copper and prazipro and i believe they'll be okay! i'll let you know if anything else happens!

Which test kit are you using? For Coppersafe, the therapeutic range is 1.5 - 2.0 ppm. If this is actually Marine Velvet Disease instead of ich, then you need to raise it to at least 1.5 ASAP to stop losing fish.

@lewis.maryann08 You need to view it from the top looking down, with the white part of the chart underneath. It's also best to view it under natural (but indirect) sunlight.

When i do water changes do i have to add more and if so how do i know how much to add?

You will and it should be added to the replacement water before being poured into the QT.

Roughly, 2.17mL (little less than 1/2 teaspoon) Coppersafe per gallon will achieve 2.0 ppm. Double check that with a test kit though before adding to your QT.

Ok thank you its the first time I have ever used copper.. but i have not lost any more fish thank you so much your awesome at helping people[emoji16]

You're welcome, glad I can help. Just remember hold the line @ 2.0ppm for 30 days. Take care NOT to overdose/go any higher than 2.0.
