I'm trying to find out what this is and is it bad. If it's bad how do I get rid of it. It's the dark purple/grey on rock and sand.

I did the peroxide test and nothing happened. I think it is spirulina. How do I treat that?

Hmm the treatment doesn't seem to be working? I got chomi clean but I am not seeing any impact. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yeesh! I've never even seen that before. There is one in another thread like it.
#reefsquad.

Cromag is probably correct it's a bactereia. Kinda weird it didn't respond t the treatment.

How did you dose the chemi clean.
It looks untouched.

I put 9 scoops resolved in water the first day. After 2 days I added 7 more scoops yesterday. Its a 90g tank. If anything it is growing. No I do not dose carbon or nopox. I'm thinking about adding a phosphate reactor and a bio pellets reactor to keep my nitrates and phosphates down.

you followed all the instructions aeration and water change etc?
Ar these pics after the treatment?

Im on the deck top it looks like fine sand stuck to the goo. looked really weird. thats oolite?
whats your no and po?

any weird foods? Little fishies marine snow gives me the cyano pretty quick.

I would not nuke the tank, I would dose Aquaforest Np pro and pro bio s. one thing is have not read is were are your No3's and Po4's. I agree with @saltyfilmfolks your could also try NoPox.

I feed frozen brine shrimp and omega one marine pellets and coral frenzy every now and then. I have not done a water change since the treatment and yes the latest pics are after the treatment. Nitrite was 25 and po was 1. I know that's high. I do a 10g water change weekly and monthly I do a 25g. It is a thin hairy film on top of the sand and rocks. At some times it looks blue and green but now it looks black.
