Please help me figure this crud out ! It's thick and not easily syphoned out. I want to manually remove it but a lot of substrate comes with it ? Thoughts ? Turf algae ?

Those look like Dino or diatoms. Crashing your nutrients will make it worse. If it is dusty when you hit it with a turkey baster it’s diatoms. If it’s stringy and kinda slimy it’s Dino. Both go away with time and quality ro/di for your salt mix. Almost always happens within the first year of setting up a tank. Happens multiple times for a lot of people too.

On the other hand if it’s green hair algae. Manual removal and a small lawnmower blenny will do wonders. I don’t know if the tank is big enough for a tang.

I fought dinos for the longest time and eradicated them this is different looking but I hear there are different strains
