Help Kill my Algae

It's more of a slime algae looking thing...since I've been back, I did one water change with sand vacuum but algae re-appeared shortly after. The algae is definitely improved on rocks since then.... and I added a bunch of new snails after I got home and assessed the problem. I did another water change last thurs without vacuuming the sand.. but will vacuum at the next one.....as Guns and Roses sang... "need a little patience....yeah, could use some patience, yeah"........yeah

"Take it slow and things will be just fine."

Is it a newer tank or sand?

And bless your sand cleaning heart. Lil sumpin sumpin for ya to make it even easier.....

So is it being suggested if I have green algae on my LR to remove it and scrub it in a bucket outside the tank? Do not scrub in the tank?

Tanks has been up and running for about 7 months now...it just seemed weird to me to get algae this far along. the sand was new but all the rock came out of my old 90.
Thanks for the tip... I think I'll try that today!

I never have. It pretty much would mean every couple weeks or months I/you would have to pull out all the rock. If its a huge outbreak yea maybe, I've done that in my smaller tank. But I don't see that as being feasible in pretty much any tank. I het a little Patch of gha, I hit it with the toothbrush.

Bubble algae is a bit different, you should try not to pop the bubbles. Most look at the You tube Videos and have small siphon w 1/4 in and suck it out when the scrape the bubbles off. If its a HUGE bubble patch yea maybe pull it out.

Cyano and minoor diatoms or Dino are so small the "infestation" is actually all through the system and your eliminating the biomass as you also control the nutrients, silicates or whatever is fueling the outbreak, like carbon dosing, vibrant amino foods etc.

If you can take it out to scrub..that's what I would do..have you ever tried to pluck it of the rocks?
It's really harder than it looks. But Salty knows best, I'm sure.

No sweat, I remember you tank build and clicked the build link in the title. Wow thats sweet.

ALgaes and such will phase through the tank from time to time. It happens. So suggesting surgery for the skinned knee is probably not the greatest advice. The first year of a tank is totally odd. the second is pretty cool. Ive only ever hit 4.5 on a tank.

yea go by eye and how awful it looks really. I do like having my rock easy to pull, and if you keep the sand as clean as Clarksski you wont kick up as much crapola as folks who refuse to clean the shallow sand.
