Alveopora and Goniopora are actually not closely related at all. Goniopora is in the family Poritidae while Alveopora is in the family Acroporidae.Both are alveopora - a cousin to goniopora

I have both with each other- youre fine. Do note though that if you don't much experience with raising coral, or are afraid of losing either, you should choose Alveopora which is more forgiving of changes in water chemistry.Will these coral be ok next to each other? Lol ...my Goniopora has had some issues here and there but always snaps back to life and grows new heads....my alveopora was doing awesome for 2 months...then literally one morning was a coral skeleton ...you can't explain that!I have both with each other- youre fine.
