Having trouble understanding the instructions. Anybody know it well enough to walk me through step by step from the beginning to do this:

Turn on heaters below 78f
Turn on Fan/chiller above 79f

Initially, that's all I need. Pretty much why I bought the thing, but can't figure it out.

I did set the time, date, brightness and then hit default and it started all over again.

I sure would appreciate the help.

Tom

I just setup mine also...
To make it really easy for you just tell me on what channels/sockets your heater and fan/chiller are and I will reply in detail.

Thanks Max!

Channel 1 is the heaters

Channel 4 is the chiller/fan

for chiller
Output
ch4
Mode is fine
Function: Controller
Device: iTemp
SetPoint: 79.0
Hysteresis .02
On When: "Above"
press back , then back again and when is says "SAVE" press enter. you done

good luck, i did set mine a couple time and even reset it just to get use to do it.

OK..Here we go

For the heater:
Push MENU
scroll down to MODULES
Hit enter when you get to PC4
Scroll down to CH1
Hit ENTER
You will see MODE
Hit Enter
scroll down until you see AUTO
Hit ENTER
The word SAVE will show up
Hit ENTER
Select CH1 again
hit ENTER
Scroll to FUNCTION
hit ENTER
Scroll to CONTROLLER
hit ENTER
The word DEVICE will show up
select I-temp
hit ENTER
SETPOINT will show up
It is here you will set your desired temperature.
push up or down to set each digit
hitting ENTER will skip to the next digit.
Once you hit ENTER after the last digit the word HYSTERESIS will show up.
Do the same as for setting the temperature degrees. Recommended here is to set it to 000.1
when you hit ENTER after the last digit the word ON WHEN
now select BELOW
hit ENTER
STANDBY MODE will show up
set it to OFF
the word SAVE will show up and just hit enter to save

To verify if you did it right just go through the whole thing again and see if your settings are correct.

For your fan/chiller
do the same as for Ch. 1 but select CH 4
just change the degrees setting to the desired ones
and when you get to ON WHEN I guess you have to choose ABOVE now.
This way your fan will go on once the temp goes above your settings

Hope this helps. Sounds complicated but it is actually very easy.

btw.. They just came out with the a new firmware. Check their support forum to see if your firmware is the newest ones. The settings I gave you are for the newest firmware!!

With both of you helping, I set it up! Thanks very much to you guys. I never would have figured this out. Now, I feel like I can do the MH and timers too.

This is actually a great tool.
Thanks again!
Tom

Hi, I'm having trouble with the instructions also. can someone tell me how to get the temp to show. I followed the instructions above and think I have the lights. but my metal halides has 2 plugs. If I did this right MH are on channel three. should I put a double plug in adapter on this channel to make both MH come on together. also the RKL has a general and system menu, I can't figure out whats in the general and whats in systems? I'm afraid I purchase 2 items[RKL] that's apparently over my head, but I really want to learn to operate. I did update the firmware on both[with help from DA]. any help will be deeply appreciated. I want to contoll my lighting, chiller, 2 BRS dosing pumps, and heater. Plan to purchase the salinity addition also, but need to learn to operate what I have.

Even if you would plug both MH into 1 outlet you still would 5 outlets. Therefore you would have to get another PC4 (outlet bar). Also I don't know if 2 x MH's plugged into one outlet wouldn't draw to much power when switching on for the PC4?
If you are not in the market for another one maybe you could operate your chiller separate as he has probably his own temp. settings to turn on/off?

I guess you are using the original DA temp. probe for your unit?
If so you have to program it with the "itemp" option and NOT the regular "temp" option.

If you have more questions please just ask..Will try to help you more

thanks, the temp probe is the itemp. you'r right the chiller has it own built in controller. my light is the hamilton belize sun. it has 2 cords for the halides and 1 cord for the t-5s and one cord for moon lights and 1 cord for the fans. so I would need to get another pc4 just for the lighting. does DA have a demonstration video?

I don't know of any video but there might be...
Once you have setup your "itemp" the temperature should show on the first screen. No need to go into any other sub-displays.
The main screen displays shows several values but only one at a time. Maybe you have to use the up and down buttons to scroll through them until you see the temp.

Little hint:
Instead of buying a PC4 for $89 just get another RKL Lite basic for $99.
This way you have an extra unit, temp probe...
oh..Am I supposed not to mention this?....lol

actually I have 2 RKL, I purchase 1 and 1 was birthday present. mine displays shows date and time, under this is the word none.

ok I just scrolled the head unit and found the temp. at least I got that part right.

You are getting there!!

You probably know this already but just in case...
When you setup your MH's be sure to use the "safe start" option for them.
In case you have just a short power outage you MH's won't turn back on if they are still hot. With this option the RKL waits about 15 minutes or so to power them up again.

Bravo Maxreefer and Killingseed for the great info!

thanks for helping me. do you mind telling me what the general function covers and the systems funtions?

I have tried readng the booklet, but the info is brief. since I'm a registered nurse if this thing had bones, muscle and tissue, I'd be all over it. But this technical and mechanical stuff gets confusing to me.

The booklet is not that great to be honest.
Have a look at their new online manual (it is not the final result but it helps to understand things much easier). Also you will understand better what the "general" and "system" covers: LINK
