Ok, I will try that. I don’t see any pH drop on my probes during or right after each dose going in. Are the other carbon dosing methods easier on pH? Thanks

The overall effect on pH of dosing most forms are about the same: they all end as CO2. Vinegar has half of its effect instantly, while the others (e.g., vodka) have all of their pH effect later when metabolized.

Enough so there was excess solids on the bottom. Beyond that, it doesn't matter, it just settled out.

This is an especially good choice for manual once a day dosing, which is how I did it for a while before getting a pump.

Yes, it will reduce the pH drop.
I was using limewater and did not have low pH.

Pretty close.

So the test results are not good. Every floor of the house, after 30-45 minutes of aeration, the PH stays at about 7.4, temp only drops a few degrees. Go outside, after only 20 minutes PH is up to 8.4 or even 8.6. I'm thinking I should pick up a cheap co2 monitor from amazon just to confirm the ppm is very high in the home. Which means we need a whole home air exchanger probably.

I had similar problem and it turned out to be low Alk. I dosed 1 oz of Two Little Fishes part B in my 5 gal ATO with 1 tsp of Kalk per gal of RODI water and my numbers came up to 8.1 - 8.3 daily. (I'm in Minnesota)

My alk is ok.

Got the co2 meter today. Basement and fish area is 2000 ppm! With the windows open and hvac running it appears the rest of the house is fine now, 800 ppm. We need to remember to run the hvac fan more often.

I'm going to install an hrv exchanger in the basement to help the fish room and rest of the basement.

NASA suggest one house plant for every 100sqft of a house. Some are better than others. Why I know this? When my wife put her office on the same floor as the tank I noticed pH changes, looked into it and after putting 5 plants in her room close to the tank, no more issues!
