HELP need advice Corona killing my School reef

Man I wish you weren’t so far away. I breed clowns and have lots of empty tanks I could hold some in for you.

Have you tried posting in your local reef club for some help?

Hey I have that pump in a 45 gal tank, it is super powerful, to help I would run it in pulse mode on like 20 or 30 % or whatever % gives you a nice wave. It should work on that small of a tank, if I run mine in any other mode it blows my fish into my rock and corals as well.

An issue with the clowns will be how many are female if they’re in different tanks.

I’m also assuming that they are all Ocellaris.

Were you directly asked by administrators to take the tanks down? I know some teachers, and they have been going into school to take care of plants, fish, etc. Before you go through with all of the work of dismantling a large tank, I would double-check or make your case. Best of luck, this sounds like a tough situation.

James, I have my 36 bowfront QT that I can have cleaned up and ready on short order for what ever you need to put in there. I can put a couple of clowns in our RFN Tank, and have room in my 144. Let me know so I can get busy if need be.

The bio cubes filter/return pump should be suffice by itself without the wave pump. No need to have that wave pump running. Long term you could find a smaller wave pump, but right now, it's not needed.

Don't stress.

Could you get special permission from the school to give you more time? Explain to them it's a humanitarian thing. Or have a nearby LFS help you house some of the fish.
I was thinking the same. Is there a reef society nearby? Maybe multiple people could help out by taking some things?

I dont understand the problem, my fish love Corona... Sorry, couldn't help myself

l
can I put multipe pairs of clowns in this tank?

Get some light diffuser and zip ties and build compartments to separate bully fish. That’ll give you time to come up with longer term solution.

This is just an old 14 biocube I use for QT. Was dumb trying to QT 4 yellow tangs at once in it but once I separated them and cleared up fighting wound infections all pulled through and made it to the DT.

I would build something like a breakwater around the powerhead. It is this one right?

that should help reduce the velocity of the water for a temporary solution.

UPDATE: I hit pause on the panic button and took advice here asked administration what could be done, Their response: The reef you have is too valuable to our kids DO NOT BREAK IT DOWN, we will find a way for you to acces the building and feed and maintain it. go in evenings if possible.

I was asked to break down the smaller tanks so as to minimize time in the building. The bio cube is already home and happy ( still working with the RN-1 pump to get a good balance) I eliminated a 20 gallon AIO and have a 33 long Mangrove reef still going.

Thanks for your thoughts and help,,, this will be a long process and I may need more advice on distance reef maintenance. I will have to learn how to use my apex more Id guess it can help.

I am glad to hear! I wonder if the administration would let you post videos of the tank as you feed, or something similar? It would be a great way for the kids to stay connected to the tank and the school community.

Yes I can post videos of feed times as I choose to. What I am asking under the circumstances is if they will allow a web cam live feed of the tank so kids can visit when they want to, a Reef Cam if you will,

MY current goal is rehabbing this 32 Biocube been up 2.5 years everything in it grows and is healthy, even the constant cyano. Ran an eflux current pump until it crashed a couple months back. its been hard to get flow until i got this RN-1 going. can we geroup think solutions for this tank it is at home and will be my mainfocus with my students they will help problem solve and see it daily as we rehab and build it up. I amy start a new thread for this tank rehab project would you guys be interested in helping with this via advice and discussion as we go along?

Now this is what R2R is all about. What a champ.

Also, I am so glad the tank can stay up and the school recognized the years of work that go into the tank. I love hearing situations where everybody looks out for one another and can bend the rules when they look at the whole situation.
