Help, I got a new torch on Saturday. Thay day and Sunday it looked good. Wasn't opening all the way but opened a little and looked healthy.

Today I came home amd it looks like this. What can I do? Is this torch dying?

Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 1ppm
Phosphates .04
Flow is medium-strong

Lighting is LED and I have it at the bottom on the tank off to the side to get used to it.

How old is this tank? Sand is pretty white, which leads me to believe it's a newer setup.

It is newer,

Started 2 months ago. Cycled for a month, started adding some love stock a month ago. 1 other LPS- doing well and 3 softies all doing well.

IMO tank is too new. And yes, that torch looks like it is dying to me.
Just my 2 cents.

dang, I thought i waited enough. Tank was stable, well cycled, good parameters. What else am I missing for a coral to survive? My other LPS and softies are doing very well.

How long do you recommend? Everyone I talk to says something different.

Is it closed up or do you see it bailing or melting away?

Two month old? Tank is too new to be adding corals.
Personally, i don't think the tank is too new to add corals. I am advocate of adding corals ASAP.

This tank is just too new to add that coral. Add a bunch of cheap, easy, softies such as leathers, trees, zooanthids, xenia, etc., etc., that will help mature the tank much faster by introducing bacteria and get nutrients consumed. Keep ALK and nitrate and phosphate consistent.

When the those easier corals grow gang buster and the no problems, add or replace with more challenging coral...

Makes sense since my other corals are doing much better. Thank you.

Soft corals and some LPS are easier than others. There is no hard rule, but it is safer to wait longer. When your tank starts to grow coralline algae, that might be an indication things are going in the right direction. Wait another 3 or 4 months after coralline. Then try another easy lps like a hammer or frogspwn.if they survive, try something harder.
After 4 years I still have more trouble with Australian vs indo torches.

I honestly don't know what either of those would look like. Here is a clearer picture.

It kind of looks like it’s just closed up but it’s hard to tell. Usually if it’s melting, you’ll see pieces falling off of it or the polyp not “hanging on” the skeleton. If you notice that part of the polyp isn’t holding on or that it’s gunky and falling apart, then give it some time. Try adding some amino acids

Crazy, I got itnfrom unique corals and they said it was a good beginner LPS coral

When any coral is receding like that i avoid aminos like the plague. While the aminos may help feed the coral--they also feed bacteria that could be attacking the coral and causing the receding in the first place... Just anecdotal, but i have tried the amino thing, a few brands. I would bet my mother's left foot on them aiding in coral death, especially LPS.

When i stopped using aminos, and carbon sources, any issues i had with torches, hammers, and SPS stopped.

Another good start LPS is just plain green and purple/blue frogspawn. These are often at local store and have been propagated in tanks for over decade literally. I do not think a torch is a good beginner coral.
