Help please first corals today. My mushroom looks weird

Hello I purchased a hammer coral and mushroom. My mushroom looks like it was damaged / changed from when I first got it. There are these red strings now. Is this the skeleton shedding and dying already ? Or is this normal. Thanks

Mushrooms are a soft coral no skeleton to worry about. Those little red strings arnt from the shroom. Possible algae. Beautiful shroom

Thank you for the super quick reply. I took it out and pulled the stuff off and it seemed to be something else you’re right. Looks better on the eye now. Thanks so much !

Definitely a nice coral - and I will second @sfin52 's thoughts. Looks completely normal to me. My mushrooms, zoas, anemones all make weird shapes sometimes. It's just what they do - especially when they just got to a new home.

I agree.
I also recomend to allow it to acclimate.
Unless its obviously in distress with algae or something, the more you handle it the the more stress it gets.

I’m being paranoid again. These are the two corals I got. My hammer looks really happy but my mushroom seems to have no orange on the outsides and I swear I noticed a little bubble actually fall off the coral in front of my eyes. What do you guys think about the mushroom ?

Looks good to me. Coral can change from one tank to the next. Colorful and not all shrunken up. We all freak out when we add new coral to the tank. Deep breath all is good

Looks like the mushroom is settling in. Shrooms are super hardy but do wierd things sometimes even fully healthy and acclimated.
I see 2 shrooms/mouths did you buy a 2 pack?
I wouldnt stress it. Also you can get all kinds of different colors depending on your lighting.
As said beautiful shroom.

I bought a nano frag for 34$. I actually see 3 green mouths but in pic only two. I glued it too that rock. Any idea what should I be on the look out for if it is stressed ? I’m worried my lighting is too strong. That’s my concern and I’m waiting for the par rental to get here.

One thing I've noticed is they will expel a brown turd from there mouth in too much light or being too high stressed. Other signs of stress could be detaching from rubble/plug. To Shrinking up and melting away.
Yours are acclimating and should be fine.
I wouldnt stress too much. I cycled a 180 gallon system with mushrooms so I know they can take pretty much whatever you throw at them.
Just keep your temp and salinity swings at a minimum and they will be fine.

Thanks for all your knowledge helps put it to ease knowing you cycled a tank with them. I think because I’m new to the hobby I’m worrying too much cuz I want everything perfect . I suppose better than the alternative. Thanks again LRT!

Ricordeas are pretty nice looking coral.
This is the one I had before it decided to break itself into 4 baby Ricordea chunks. Now I have 4 Ricordea.

All shrunken up in a ball. They will do that at night as well. They are melting. Dont get too upset if they detach and float around the tank. They will do that.
