Help save Acros

Best way to save Acros is to NOT BUY them in the first place

Go LPS.... all day long

thats a good idea about the 40 breeder, I have though about this.

I have about 60 pounds of sand in the sump, I was going to put some of the sand in the breeder and put all the frags on tiles?
I wouldn't use any sand or rocks from the main display or sump, at least not in it's current condition. Get 10lbs of live rock from your LFS or just cycle some dry rock.

Yes a HOB filter will be plenty enough. Make sure not to overfeed the 40B.

For major infestations, berghia without peps (or you will worry about the peps eating the berghia). Use kalk paste to wipe out all of the visible aips every two weeks. Eventually, you will win the battle.

Not that one! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: That’s the worst one I’ve ever seen! It’s brown gsp!!! The rocks are solid and flowing in the wind..

I just thought of one more thing. I have been trying to rid a tank of purple disco mushrooms and this may help.

Turn off pumps. I rip out as many mushrooms as i can with hemostats and cover whats left with kalk paste. May not be able to grab aiptasia but smothering them with the paste will kill them.

Mix up some kalk paste, i use about 1 tsp per 5ml rodi, others say consistency of toothpaste but I use a small syringe and don't apply it that thick.

Smother them. After about a half an hour, I siphon the smutz.

If you siphon out the crud, it really doesn't mess up the water too bad, just do a little at a time. I usually stick to one syringe at a time and do it right before a water change.

I have been putting a hurt on mushrooms this way and I bet you could wreak some serious damage on aiptasia. Just do a little area at a time.

I remembered because I was just doing a second dose today before water change. Last week, both of these rocks were absolutely covered in mushrooms.

Peppermint shrimp with berghia nudies will eat them.
Anything that will eat aptaisia will eat berghia nudibranches. As soon as the nudibranches eat an aptaisia, they turn brown and they will taste like them too.

This goes for all shrimps and fishes and anything else that eats them, they will turn on the berghia.
When using the berghia they should always be used by themselves. You really shouldn't use Kalk paste and the like because that might kill them also.

I do recommend we do a skip cycle rock swap

when the tank is disassembled the razor blade can remove off the glass areas, it’s really good you don’t have sand

if you buy rocks that don’t have aiptasia we can easily, easily keep them permanently with that surgical technique discussed prior

@brandon429 Petco has a sale I just ordered a 40B to hold the acros. If you have it handy, can you post your skip cycle for rock?

With all the live rock taken out of the tank. Is there any reason I could not run copper through the tank to kill them inside the pipes?? It shouldn’t hurt the fish

Today will be day one of feeding less. I will def give it a good chance and see if that will make a difference with the CBB / Kleini / pepps in the tank

With aiptasia that size, I am not sure if anything would eat it. Your peppermints will keep them from growing in the 40B. Try to get as little of the existing rock and exposed frag plugs into the 40B.

The main display will benefit from a proper clean and restart.

I would never use copper in the display, it won’t kill the aiptasia

physicality is the way

disconnect the pipes and burn them out, or bleach them through the pipe, something creative and physical

here’s the study thread for skip cycling, this kind of rock is simply bought at a pet store, taken to your house, and set in the tank and it’s instantly done cycling:
