Help! Tissue receding on torches and hammers?

Hello all, I have a bit of a dilemma. I’m not sure why but the tissue on the skeleton of my torches and hammers is receding. It happens slowly over months, they the flesh falls out, any ideas on what it could be?

Cal: 480
Mag:1400
Alk:8
Ph:7.8 - 8.1
Nitrate: 20
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite:0
Phosphate: 0.03
Par: ~250-300
Flow: moderate to high

I think those parameters look fine. Maybe the flow is too high and it's injuring them? Any possible critters stressing them out?

not seeing any critters and I have tried changing the flow. I actually just increased it a bit thinking they might need more? I have maxspect gyres that we’re on 20% power,Uped it to 40%

I would cut the flow down. I have the same issue and have lost one myself.

I know you posted your parameters, but how often do you test? If you're not checking regularly and there are swings (especially alk) it could definitely cause the problems you are seeing... just a thought.

I check about every week usually. I will try checking my alk more frequently and see if I see any swings. Thanks!

Do you have dinoflagellate in your tank? From the pictures look like you have some. My experienced with euphyllia receding like that is from the toxic released by dino, just run heavy carbon and check the nutrients

I have had them. They seem to be disappearing now. I didn’t know they put off a toxin. Thank you, I’ll have to research that more.

I feed homemade fish food every other day, in between I feed pellets. Everyday I feed seaweed. I don’t spot feed corals, but maybe I should?

I would say that amount of indirect feeding is good but probably spot feed twice a week in addition to give targeted nutrients. Also what light are you using and do you know how much par it is under?

I just lost my torch’s and hammers recently and didn’t know why did a icp test and it showed metals in my tank slowly but surely recovering you might want to look on your sump for metals and your power heads etc.

250 par seems a little high to me I usually run torches in no more than 175 par.
