HELP!! **Toddler fed fish**

My cousin fed the fish an entire can of freshwater fish food once...they were 16

Thanks everyone so much for the input. Ive been Lmbo @ all your guys comments.
Ive done another water change , and added some new carbon to the filter.
Its been super cloudy, but finally clearing up a little. All the fish seem to be doing fine !
Once again, thanks everyone for the quick responses
You guys kept me from panicking ! Lol.
I loved all the kiddo stories ; and the cookie monster by the way!

You know the fish will now be demanding cookies weekly!

My younger brother tossed M&M's in my tank once. When I first saw them I couldn't figure out what they were. They looked like colorful rocks until you touched them and the candy shell fell away to reveal the chocolate center. Ugh! Water changes and all were well.

Toddlers who feed cookies might also put their little hands in the water.
Consider GFCI and ground probe.

HELP! We have no idea where to begin.
Our toddler put a whole chocolate cookie in our tank.. It set overnight.
We got most of it out but they are pieces that are impossible to get out.
We have a nano cube ; 29 gallons. We have 2 domino damsels, peppermint shrimp, 2 hermit crabs, & 3 emerald crabs.
I just done a water change
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much!!
Stir the water and net anything that you can....get a hose and pull the cookie out of the sand with Nother water change in the morning....then clean your filter....try to leave some of the good bacteria inthe tank by stoning any the top of the sand... my grandson did that with fish food...good luck. I would order some cope pods from algeabarn to restore your bacteria base

This guy is saltwater and loves Chocolate chip

Eeeek- chocolate chip Starfish it is. ON A REAL NOTE: THE ACTIONS YOU TOOK ARE THE CORRECT ONES AND TANK WILL BE OK. HOPE IT ALL WORKS OUT !

I have 2 toddlers with an open 100 gallon tub in the basement. I can’t believe they haven’t done something like this! They are 3 & 4. I guess old enough to understand the threat on their lives. Lol.

My son when he was a toddler dumped an entire bag of pretzel rods into our freshwater tank. He thought the fish needed logs... Lost one fish but not bad considering.
It sounds like you have a nice bacterial bloom going with the added sugar. It should clear up soon

I know people use sugar for carbon dosing, but cookie dosing? That's new to me, but probably just as effective. ;)
Sure! It's the new Toll House Method... and it's the real reason Tritons went to milk cartons. They wanted to get into the game early so you would have something to dip your cookies in! LOL

I hear this story often because I was the toddler and don't remember doing it, but we were going on vacation and my father had laid out all these little paper pill cups with food for somebody to feed the fish each day while we were gone - this was back in the days of slate bottom tanks with chrome edges and air operated corner filters.

Apparently I was worried the fish would get hungry while we were gone, so (yes you guessed it!) I fed every single little cup just before we walked out the door.

Needless to say we didn't have the understanding of biological filtration we do today and the end result was less than pleasing...

That sux, but not too bad. My two kids thought it would be nice if they put everthing I had in my cabinet under my biocube into it just after it had finished cycling. Luckly I had only a small clown fish. He didnt make it tho. They put a whole thing of flake food in it along with a cyano killer (whole jar) and sum other things. Woke up the next morning and the kids said they fed the fish for me. needless to say the tank got restarted next to my bed ;). They stay away from it now.

Kids will try to feed fish. Years ago my daughter dumped a large, and I mean large, can of fish food in my 50 gal salt tank after I went to work and before she went to school. When I got home late that night the few fish left were gasping for air.
