Help! Torch coral! Confused!

dont turn the powerhead off, just move it to where the coral isnt getting blasted with flow.

Sometimes a head can die off but the others will make it. How many heads are on the coral?

What fish do you have in your tank. If the tips are missing it could very well be a fish picking at it. I have a torch the size of a basketball that I almost lost because my Powder Blue Tang was picking the neon tips off of it. I had to re-home the fish.

One thing Ive learned if there is one piece of flesh left , let it be. you dont have to turn the power head off just make sure the coral is in a spot where its not getting beat on by the current.

1+ on on the hydrometer. Rinse it in fw after using to get salt off the swing arm. I take about 4 measurements and take the average.
My torch lives on the 3" sandbed dead center of my 29g tank. Powerhead is on top right side so it gets movement from the water recirculating and not direct flow. Hope this photo helps. Good luck!!!

Never knew that about hydrometer! And I like that ill do the same take average. Thank you and yes pic helps. Nice looking tank

Yep. The saltwater left in it leaves precipitated salt on the arm once the water has evaporated so you are starting it out salty before you even dip it in your tank. I just run it thru the tap really well then let it dry thoroughly. I'm sure there may be slight trace minerals left from the tap water but its 5-6 days between use so I dont sweat it.
