Help what is this ??? Anemone question

Not to my memory. Then again, I haven't directly fed any of my 3 anemones in about 2 years.

Has any of your men's spit out waste for 3 days straight?

No, in fact it's rare when I see one of my nems expel waste. Some of them, I've never seen do it...not that it's abnormal to see it occasionally. Healthy properly fed nems rarely expel waste IMO.

It looks like the nem has begun to decay. It looks like something tore it open or it tore itself moving .,, starting to show white internal organs. Is it too late or can it be saved

Stongly leaning towards it being done for, but would like to see a picture to be 100% sure.

If you do remove it, use a container or net -- they tend to fall apart.

He posted a pic when he started this thread...... If you know anything about nems, you can see its on the way out.

Op, this is your tank. Tank preventive measures early and you will be successful.

That first picture it wasn't on its way out. I have been (( successfully )) keeping anemones for the last 20 years, including M. doreensis, which the OP was/is about. Have brought back numerous anemones that looked worse than the first picture in this thread.

The first photo doesn't indicate it is dying. Post #28 DOES indicate it's dying.

Fyi, the anemone being torn open and dying, had nothing to do with its previous condition in this thread. The first photo shows it expelling waste. Normal. Other photo shows it balled up. Also normal.

I have kept bubble tip anem. They seem to take time to settle down. I did learn the hard way to keep power head covered! I now use filter media bags to cover them. Works great, as they tie at the back, and can be easily removed for cleaning. My latest anem moved to 3 different places for about several days to a week at a time. It settled on live rocks at first. I am not sure what kept it moving, but I do suspect bristle worms in the rock. The anem has now settled at the top of the tank. It is wedged between the overflow and a return. Great water movement there lots of food and light. Clown fish is happy and I have no complaints. It does ball up pretty much every night. It is amazing how it begins to ball up about 10 minutes before the light timer switches off.

It could be expelling zooxanthellae, if the anemone doesn't show brighter colors as days go by I would toss it before something bad happens.

+1 on covering powerheads.. Poor bubble tip
