Help with CBF

Sorry for the loss... these guys are just so fragile.

If it was uronema, hypothetically, what would be the protocol for the other existing fish? I've never encountered it personally, I'm just wondering how "at risk" the rest of the tank might be? If it was suspected as a possibility, how long would you wait before you could safely assume it is definitely not uronema? Or, would it only be a threat to new additions and fish with lowered immune systems?

Sorry to hear about your loss. Your story was similar to mine. I suffered a quick one last week as well. Woke up to my swissguard basslet looked wounded, not eating, 2 hours later white poop, trying qt'ing it with kanaplex & metroplex. There really was no saving him. Maybe they will meet in fishy heaven :)

Uronema isn't something that you can go fallow for... in reality you would either avoid species that are prone to it, or just try a chromis (after QT) and see if he gets it. Kind of a canary if you will. Metroplex is supposed to be a cure for it and copper is supposed to help, though I think it really just suppresses it. It's a tuff situation to be in. In this case, I really don't think it was uronema.... simply and injury that got infected quickly.

Thank you.. what's a good fish to add to the tank from the list above?

I'll be honest, I hate answering those questions. lol I have things that I really like, but others go "meh". I'll make a suggestion or two anyway though. I like the black cap basslets, diamond goby, lubbocks fairy wrasse, pink margin wrasse, bangaii cardinals, anthias ect ect. The list goes on and on. lol

Sorry for your loss. I went through the same with my first CBB. It developed the same kind of mark so I dosed Melafix (natural antibiotic). It passed before I could dose with the stronger antibiotics. Yeah, mine surprised me too on how fast it succumbed to the infection. One day I noticed the mark and the next it was gone. I now keep Furan-2, Kanaplex and Metroplex on hand for infections. Bought another a few weeks later and this one made it through qt with no problems and has been in the DT for over a month now and doing well.
