I have a 200 g tank had to remove all my love rock to catch a rogue domino damsel after putting everything back to normal my clown trigger is swimming backwards , crazy he is running full speed and hitting everything . Now it appears he might have put his eye out its shinny almost looks like broken glass . Any ideas ?

Sounds like he hurt himself on a rock during the upheaval. Is it just one eye or both that looks damaged? Any swelling? You need to get him into either a QT or acclimation box to prevent him from doing further damage to himself. He might just need some R&R to heal. A pic would be great.

It is just the one eye . He was acting funny for two days before he hurt his eye . Like he was confused , just running into everything . He'd just swim real fast and slam into things , not like scratching but like he didn't know it was there . I'm trying to get a clear pic but he keeps hiding in the rocks

Can you catch him and put him into a QT? Better for him to ram himself into smooth glass than sharp rocks at this point.

I will try to catch him without any additional stress . Also I have a pic but can't figure out how to post it on here . Can I post it straight from my I phone or do I need to get on the computer

Do you have a photobucket account? You can link pictures from there by using the "Image" icon at the top of your reply box. Maybe someone from [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] knows how to post directly from a phone.

From a phone click "upload file" under where you type responses and choose the picture you want. This is using a mobile browser.

im sorry the pic is not any better than that I had to get sideways and he was way in the back . ill see if I can get a better one

You can see the eye in the last pic. That looks bad. Try and get him somewhere he can rest and not run full speed into things.

Add vitamins to his food if you dont already and keep the QT water clean. Watch the eye. You may need to treat with antibiotics if it gets infected. Hopefully he can just heal it up on his own.

I'm still curious as to what caused to to act crazy in the first place . Anyone have any ideas . He was completely healthy . Then he just started doing this . I've seen him stressed before I've had him 1 and 1/2 years but this was different . It was like he just lost his mind

Did you ever QT him or any of the fish he's with? A stressful event like this can make things that normally lay dormant, or at least under control on the fish out of site, rear their ugly heads. Of course, he could have just gotten injured during the rock removal and now he's swimming erratically from it.

No this was the first time . My domino was picking on all my other fish so I set up a qt and decided it was time . Well it was more of a daunting task then I thought it took me several hours to catch him . One thing is when I went to remove the center piece the trigger was in it . He got out before the piece left the water but that may be where it happened . Because after I put everything back he's not been the same . I first contributed to stress but i bet you all right on I bet it's a injury . I'll have him in qt tonight and I'll keep u posted on the results . Thanks so much . He is pretty much my favorite fish in the tank so I'm real bummed right now .

Hopefully he makes it just fine. Keep an eye on it and try everything you can to make sure he eats.

Might have scratched his eye all up in the rock as you were taking it out. I've had this happen before with fish. Usually causes "popeye" so keep a close eye on it. ;) Sorry I know you probably didn't find that funny; just trying to cheer you up.

New tank, today is day 5. Clown trigger, puffer and purple tang. Clown trigger's 1 eye looks strange, Popeye? How bad? Water parameters all perfect except salinity a little high, 23.
