So I’m setting up the ATO and I’m sure as heck that the top sensor for the duetto is the safety. But it keeps filling the tank past the top triangle... I’m confused :/ someone have any idea wats goin on?

Upside down?
Wave action (too much) can also be an issue.
Put in a calm place.
I don’t think so because it’s literally in the corner, and the HOB is on the opposite end.

Seem a few others are reporting similar issues.
One said he needed to move the tube brining in RODI out farther away from the sensor.
Some are making contact with the manufacture.
Can the wires for each optical sensor be plugged into the control or are they marked.

I have a Cube 20 AIO with the Duetto ATO. I set up the ATO yesterday, with the optical sensor and tubing in the return. This morning I noticed it was repeatedly filling over a long period of time. When I looked at it, it was filling the return chamber, but the water was immediately pumped into the main display so the water levels kept rising and falling rapidly in the return chamber. It was not filling up above the top sensor though. I checked the salinity and it was WAYYY low, so it seems like I'm having a similar problem. Good thing I set this up on a new tank that has no livestock in it. I set up the ATO just like a waterbox video I watched online for this tank, but apparently that was not solid advice. Does anyone have this ATO set up on an AIO tank? Where you do place the sensor? I'm thinking about moving it to the middle chamber, because that seems to have the calmest flow.

I would take it out!

I just set up a duetto the other day and it did the same thing. It then pumped about 15g of water into my all in one, causing a flood on the floor which I have to replace.

I'm waiting for a response from BRS with who I need to contact to get a replacement

Oh man I am sorry to hear that. I unplugged the ATO and then it sucked a bunch of saltwater out of the display into the reservoir. Now I have to replace all the RODI water. Give us an update here if you hear back from BRS - that is where I ordered my ATO from as well. Once I correct the salinity in my tank, I'm going to try putting the sensor into the middle chamber, but now I'm super nervous about this ATO getting bumped accidentally or something and overfilling the tank.

My guess is it's a bad batch of sensors.

I have two other duettos running on my 180g and a 33 long. Both have functioned flawlessly for over a year

I agree with pntbll687 on the bad sensor. I’ve been using the same ATO for about 8 months and mine only rises to the top sensor, never past it. Also they sell the duetto sumpless ATO that might help since you’re using a HOB, but I noticed the flow was very high on the included surface skimmer so it wasn’t ideal for my smaller tank.

These are my problems, luckily I tested this on my freshwater tank to not mess up anything. Plus my saltwater tank has no livestock and is in its cycling process so I’m glad it didn’t ruin that. Nevertheless idk what ATO to go with that will fit in a 10g display :/ and not look ugly 21E8BB5E-7430-48FA-9BEA-C2AF8A82102C.jpeg A9FA42C7-1093-4671-A01B-4D36118887AD.jpeg

So I have had the same problem on and off, idk if mine is a bad sensor or bad programming issue, mine will on occasion overfill past the second sensor but then it will correct itself and fill to the correct level... I use mine on an all in one system... innovative marine lagoon 25 all in one

The tube you fill your DT with must be out of the water, then it’s ok when the pump stops as the water in the tube is all that moves back.

On that duel sensor, do they mark clearly which one should be on top.

I have this on a 40g aio tank, in the return chamber and have never had any issues. I actually love this ato. I wish I had advice to give you but there isn't much to them so bad part must be it. Make sure you guys all have the purge valve installed right

Those pics don’t look too far off (can’t see the video) but it’s only a little above the top. In the instruction manual there’s a quote “**For very small aquariums, the top sensor may be triggered after each top off. This is normal and no action is required“ which I’m guessing would mean it’s expected to go a bit past the top sensor in smaller tanks like your 10G. I’d recommend contacting the company directly and asking if that’s right, their support was very helpful for me in the past.

Nope it actually shouldn’t happen because I tested and took pictures of that sensor in my 29g freshwater. So like it shouldn’t be past the top sensor at all ?

Mine goes to the tip of the top triangle, maybe a millimeter past it on occasion. It may have gone further past before I had a sump but I don’t know for sure. I would still contact them directly just to be sure, but if you’re nervous about an overfill you could also buy a smart level sensor that cuts power to the ato entirely if the water level reaches a certain point as a fail safe.

Here is a photo of mine. As stated above, make sure your purge valve is installed and installed correctly, I have attached a photo. I initially installed without the purge valve and it was causing me issues until I put it in.

If this happened I'd assume you don't have the valve installed correctly.

Just an update. BRS sent an email to xpaqua, and they sent me a ups label to ship the pump, sensor, and power supply back to them for a test

So I seem to have the opposite problem. My Duet ATO was working for about a month, now my pump is not pumping the water all the way up into the tank. It goes about 3/4 of the way and stops. XPAqua sent me a new pump and its the same thing. I have the siphon break in correctly, the water just drips back into the reservoir from the siphon break. I don't understand why it changed/stopped.
