I have never been able to get a 100% id on this guy. It is super crazy bright even under white light. I know the pic quality is lacking and will try to get better.

Agreed with above, is it soft? id guess neon green cabbage leather. If it was hard, some kind of pavona or a green maldivensis? But agreed, the pattern is throwing me off.

Makes two of us, ship it to WWC, have it go for $400 a frag.

Only other guess with out a better pic or description is a chalice, they have wacky growth, but how its encrusting doesn't say chalice to me. I guess if you let us know if it was hard or soft would help.

it has a soft thin skin, no sweepers even at night, it is encrusting
no aptasia , has gha around it in the pic but the tank has been cleaned up.
the pattern is what is making it hard for me as well.
This picture was taken with white lights on. It is the brightest coral I have ever seen. And i have been in the hobby for awhile and have never seen anything like it.
I will try and get a better picture of it tonight, as these are a few months old.

Image-1.png

here is a more current picture from about 3 weeks ago, i cut it out of a short vid i took of the tank. this pic has blue's on about 50% but still has about 20% white light. hope this helps, but still plan of getting pics tonight

Under the white light, it looks like a monti maybe

I think i know what it is, I will have to do some research to do provide the exact name. Does it almost have a 'maze brain' pattern, but it is fleshy like a chalice?

Yes exactly it looks like it has a slight maze look but does have a thin skin on top. It even swells slightly at times.

Thats funny, after I saw your second pic, immediately thought of a coral I have in my 90. Liekly the same species, I always assumed it was a member of the platygyra family, but was always unsure. I will keep digging.

I think you maybe right, it seems the closest to match. Most of these coral I got from a tank in very sad shape, most corals where in need of some good vitamins and some love, And at the time I had a small tank that was not very happy, now all corals are in a bigger cleaner tank with more lights and better flow and regular water changes. They are starting to come back in color and growth. I think the biggest thing is going to me to wait and watch them grow out and get more healthy. But this guy has been glowing like I have never seen. Let me know what you find. I might try and put my phone under water to see if i can get better picture tonight. But I am still working up the nerve to do that. It is suppose to be ale to go under water!!
