Ok so i picked up a used MP40, brought it home , hooked it up and man was it loud. I tried every trick I knew of and decided it was the wet side, so I had a friend with a new wet side. Took it hope hooked it up and THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. Now here is a couple things I read about and tried

1. Replaced the wetside
2. Placed the dryside against the glass and turn it on , it was absolutely silent.

I dont get it. its like as soon as its engaged and or connected to the wet side the loud noise is back. I checked for spacing and everything i know of and the noise is there. If the bearings were bad wouldnt it make some type of noise when it was running without a wet side?

Please help I sold all my powerheads and Im at a loss for words.

Sorry bro. It is a problem with the dry part. If still covered by warranty ecotech will honor it for sure.

Nope 3 years old, I removed all of the dry side components and the bearings spun free with no issues, it's only when it's connected to the wetside, I just lost 350$ and the guy is telling me to chuck it as a loss he isn't doing anything

how 'loud' is it. All vortech are louder than in tank power heads because they aren't muffled by the water. That being said some are banshees.

Do you have the rubber pad that goes against the glass and the dry side? I've got a 180 and followed the directions for the spacing but still had noise and movement so I put it on the strongest setting and I also made sure to mount the cord straight above the dry side so it cant slide. Now no noise at all.

I'm still curious if you've got the piece of rubber between the dry side and glass

Ok. Try the wet part of your pump with the dry part of your friend's pump. If there is no sound then your dry part is guilty just as I think.

Were you able to align them perfectly? You have to align them before turn it on

A lil but not as bad, I tinkered with the spacer and slowly found the sweet spot it's a lil better but ill never be able to run it the way I wanted that's what ya get for buying used

You got this used for 350.00? I lucked up and got two new with battery back up for 800. They are great once you get it right you'll love it. I also have two tunze 6105s, given to me new. lucked out again, but the mp 40 I think are much better.
