Ive got a sponge thats overtaken a rock and invading my zoa garden. I try to harvest the sponge and freeze it and then feed it to my regal angelfish in my other tank but this thing is out of control. Anyone have a dwarf angel recommendation to help? Lost my dwarf a few days ago and this thing is now crazy again. Very fast growing. As you can see its really making my zoas angry. Any help is appreciated. I cant pull the rock out either, its weight bearing and my structure will collapse.

Sry about the dwarf angel loss. Manual Mayb best until a new one can b sourced.
Ive been removing it by hand but its like every little piece I move the thing triples in size!!! Its nuts

@vetteguy53081 any recommendations?
This is poriferan sponge and can be invasive. I’m surprised the angel ate it as most fish won’t
Take a dental pick or sm crochet needle and discard
This is best done outside the tank in a container of tank water

Not all and looking at this on a larger screen is cryptic sponge which tends to grow wild. There is ball, barrel, ridge, pineapple, calcareous and more
Poriferan is a group of sponges of various types such as clatharina.

All sponges are classified as poriferans. The term "poriferan" refers to the phylum Porifera, which includes all types of sponges.

Ah okay, I cant take the rock out, my whole structure will fall! Ill try a dental pick. Do U just need to clear my zoa colony (on a separate rock) and move it to a different spot?

Where to move it- it’s your call as it can be invasive. It’s presence is a sign of good water balance but the growth often overtaking coral is the concern.

Also unrelated but how fast does an emperor angelfish grow? Like if I got a juv how long before it would need that 250 plus gallon tank?

Often a difficult estimate as every fish has their own growth rate based on heath, diet, tank space and historical growth/size
My experience with emperor angels has been moderate- nether fast nor slow

Ah okay thank you. Whats the tank size recommendation you would say for a juv angel until it starts turning to the adult coloring?

Ah okay, how long would a 125 last for one before they outgrow? Just ball park as I know fish grow differently

THIS FREAKING SPONGE IS NOW GROWING ON MY HERMIT’S SHELL
