I have a blue powder tang that is very special with lots of personality. Last night he was eating like crazy and seemed fine. However this morning I noticed that he would not come out to eat. I looked at him and he had a white coating over one side of his face and a few with spots. In the tank with the blue lights they looked like black spots. I took him out gave him a freshwater dip. I rushed to Petco purchased a 10 gallon tank and an airstone. I placed him in the tank with Rid ich. What else should I be doing to save him. He is still alive HELP! He was the most acitive fish in the tank. How did this happen over night?

Did you add anything last night or recently? Could be a sudden stress that caused him to become weak and maybe caused him to get ich or velvet. Do you have any pictures?

No I added a torch that I purchased. I will take pictures... Should I take him out and put him in Neoplex for a few minutes.

He was eating like cray last night.

A picture would help in giving advice

The gray white stuff is on him. I will try to take a clearer picture.

He is in a 10 gallon Sick tank.

The strange thing is that last night I saw none of this. and he was swimming and eating fast.

How long was the FW dip? I'm FAR from expert, but looks like a major case of flukes to me. They are really white though, like they turn after a FW dip but maybe it was too short to take them all out?

Edit: That's a hippo, aka regal, aka blue tang and not a powder blue. Hope it makes it though. If someone can confirm what it is at least it's already in QT.

I gave him two freshwater baths. The first for 4 minutes and the second for about 3 minutes.

I agree it looks like flukes, is that picture taken in fresh water? That's what flukes would look like in a fw dip

He actually looks a little better but not sure what else to do and I have to leave him overnight here at home with my oldest son because I have to go to a business meeting in Austin, Texas.

He is in saltwater (sick tank). The picture is taken in slat water. It was like that when I put him in the freshwater but worse. Should I give him another freshwater bath?

Get prazipro or general cure and treat. Repeat treatment in a week.

If it's only flukes, and not something else in addition, at least Prazi is something that can usually be used in a DT and they are in there as well. With two dips already I wouldn't do another right away, but you need either Prazipro or General Cure if you don't have one on hand.

He looked like that before I dipped him. Would flukes make that film over his eye. Thank for everyone's help. Trying to save him.

A look of "film over the eye" is a good way to spot flukes, so yep.
