Ok so the new saltwater at 35pt is reading higher than normal alk, over 1600 mag and for some reason my tank says the alk is at a 5.... how does this work....

My measurements of the tank were 5 alk, 460 cal and over 1600 mag

I've tested numerous times.. all about the same results....

Ok so you want my opinion [emoji16]

This is what I would do if it was my tank.

I would only dose Alk. No water changes, no components 1,2,3 , no magnesium additions , nothing but Alk and feed the fish. That's it.

Now when dosing Alk it is safe imho to dose no more that 1DKH increase in a 24 hour period.

I wouldnt do anything else. I would continue to dose .5 to 1 dkh per day and let the rest sit.

It will come down .... it has to eventually.

If you follow my advice your tank will equalize.

Each day , everyday test Alk , cal, and mag once per day at the same time each day.
